Santorini or Kefalonia... ???

Thanks for all the replies lads. Very helpful.
Kefalonia is sounding favourite at the moment, although we are still looking around.
Definitely going to be one of the Greek Islands.
Have been to Kos which we enjoyed as I say, and Crete, which the wife didn't like at all. Too commercialised, although we may have gone to the wrong part all being said. Crete is a big island! I don't remember much about it to be honest (hic!!).

Found what sounds an ideal place for us. Small hotel (29 rooms), family run. 5* reviews across the board, right next to the beach in a small village/town called Poros in Kefalonia.
Just on £600.00 each for 10 nights half board including flights.
Hire a car for the duration and just follow that beautiful coast road, see where it takes us......

Having been to both we’d always go back to Kefalonia before Santorini. Enjoyed both but really loved our time in Kefalonia - though we did have lovely ‘boutique‘ accommodation for two in K compared with family rooms in a little place in S.

We've decided on Kefalonia over Santorini. Have found a decent deal on the "On the Beach" website, two weeks half board in what sounds, (and reviews), like a really nice, small family run hotel. £1,400.00 for the two of us in August 2022. 29 reviews on Tripadvisor, all of them 5*. Rent a car for the duration, sounds idyllic.

The driving up the north end of the island is ‘hairy’ - much of the time I wasn’t allowed to admire the view...? but you must, as I am sure you will, visit Fiskardo and also and especially Assos. The drive down to Assos is steep but it is a beautiful little fishing village and I thoroughly recommend a lunch or other stop in a waterfront restaurant plus a walk out onto the headland.??

Thanks for the tips, and a visit to Assos is definitely on the cards. Nice meal and a glass of vino whilst watching the world go by. Can't beat it. Only downer is I'll be limited to one small glass as the wife won't drive, no way....???
