Folks,

Much has been discussed on this board re use of Trackman et al for swing lessons and help in club fitting etc.

Given the 'Game within a Game' and the average 40%(+!!) of shots being putts, has anyone tried the putting equivalent (SAM PuttLab stuff).

Any thoughts or recommendations from those that have done it or given it serious thought? I've a session booked next Saturday and I'd like to get some pointers on improvements on my putting and also a view on, from the mechanics of things, how well suited my putter is to my style of putting.

Thanks,

Simon.

The sam putting lab is an amazing piece of kit. Ive had multiple putting lessons and was told the problem is with my connection. The lessons never worked and my putting didn't improve.
After a sam session i found out what the real problem actually was. I was opening the putter face on my back swing and holding it open through impact. My putting is miles better

It's a pretty good tool. But still dependent on the ability/quality of the 'operator'! I've heard both good and bad reports of Puttlab sessions, all due to the approach of the Pro using it. Best use, imo, is to measure/identify areas where improvement can be made, make the changes to address those areas, then re-measure to comfirm that the changes have 'stuck'. Of course, the true measure of success is whether you hole more putts! :D

It was one of the first 'technology driven' tools. As such, and with the amount of data it produced, there were mixed reports produced from technophobes and technofreaks!

I've had a couple of SAM lessons
And they are worth it they have improved my putting going to go back at start of next season see if stroke is any good

I had one maybe a year ago? Lots of stats that are a bit over the top for a player of my caliber perhaps, the lesson from the pro was ten times more helpful than the SAM session. Then again, maybe the SAM stats are more useful to the pro to then construct a lesson to fix some faults?

I cannot comment on the benefits of this machine, but I can recommend a really good putting coach for anyone near me. Go and see Andy Blackman over at Pyrford. Smashing bloke and keeps it simple.
