Sadiq Khan

It's against EU law/rules, so not going to happen.

He needs to concentrate on stopping poor people from driving inside the North Circular.

So hang on - why would any brexiteers care if a remainer got to keep some of their EU benefits?
Indeed because according to leave voters these benefits are not worth keeping...they really do need to get over it as they won - or have they forgotten that ?

of course he’ll very most likely fail completely in his quest - but if you don’t ask...

Nothing to do with the quoted story, but yes, he's a plank. Had occasional professional dealings with him which gave me that opinion, and he's not since given me any cause to change my mind.

Are you seeking to become one of Dom's special advisors? Suggesting only rich folk can drive inside the Nth Circ will go down well with team tory...

No, exactly the opposite. I work with a load of people on sub 15k salaries who will all have to buy new cars to get to work if the ULEZ is expanded to the North Circ. Either that, or pay £50 a week extra to get to work. Or leave, and get a job somewhere else, leaving the company I work for totally banjaxed.

Maybe if your employer pays valuable staff at under £15k a year in London, they deserve to be 'banjaxed'? Why so low?

London is London. No one can afford to live near the factory. Most have to commute by car. The factory can't be moved, due to a possible CPO, and the jobs are just manual labour in a warehouse , so don't pay much. Recruiting someone from within the NC is harder, as house prices and rent are higher.

And don't they get London allowance?
There seems to be a popular misconception (especially the further north one goes) that everyone living in or near London earns high wages and is a rich fat-cat. There are many many thousands (millions even) of low paid workers. And given the London uplift for prices, how they get by is anyone's guess. And the ULEZ scheme (whilst admirable in a way) is another kick in their wallet.

Murphs argument was
Premise 1
Loads of his colleagues earn under £15,000
Premise 2.
If the ULEZ is extended, his colleagues will have to buy new cars
Premise 3.
Because of their low wage, they can't afford new cars so will have to leave work
Conclusion
Murphs company will be ruined.

I was simply questioning premise 1

As much as he would like it to be so the setting of Londoners salaries is outside of the Mayor's remit... He is though, tasked with meeting targets for "clean air" set by government /city hall... Trying to do so whilst team tory (Westminster branch) is doing its best to stop him keeping public transport both affordable and widespread across London is proving challenging...

The ULEZ has killed Smithfield meat market. It's so dead when I go there on nights now

They going to move the whole market after what 100 years to barking because of it

Lots of lads at work have changed their cars because of the charge

We are very surprised our company (tfl) arent taking up our benefit providsrs offer of salary sacrifice for electric car leases

Would save us a fortune, encourage people to change their cars and help the mayor meet his targets
