S-l-o-o-w greens!

I can't putt on slow greens, I just can't. I can cope with a bit slower or a bit faster but if the greens are really slow, I can't putt. Give me a fast green and I putt great.

I'm the same- I tend to underputt so a faster green means the ball might just reach the hole

I'm failing to see why delc is being ganged up on by the usual suspects about his opinion on playing on slow greens?

Also my pet hate and you don't just 'get used to it' as some have posted

I'm with you Del,

I find that on slow greens I try to "hit" the ball at the hole, as such I use more arm/hand in the stroke rather than shoulder rock.

I much prefer a good fast green to roll the ball towards the hole.

In fact I had a lesson and was told that most of the issues in my putting stroke were probably caused by the porridge like greens at my old club.

Must admit I struggle to find the pace on slowish greens although I am OK on very slow greens.
There just seems to be a certain pace of green that I struggle to adapt to.

As perhaps one of the 'usual suspects' you refer to, I don't have an issue with anyone disliking slow greens, or even fast ones. Having played on all sorts of speeds - even at a single course and even on the same day! - I believe I've got used to adjusting fairly rapidly. I certainly prefer quick greens, but if I fail to get the ball to the hole on slower ones, then it's my fault for not adjusting, not the greens!

So I stand by my original comment - S-l-o-o-w learner! Oh, and it's something I'm guilty of in many aspects of the game!

Like the HFH day?

Short term memory loss I believe.
"couldn't get it to the hole all day".
The contradictions just keep coming.

Not a contradiction at all. Never said I wasn't as culpable as the next guy. I had a shocker on the greens. Not many three putts but never got any running by the hole. Ended up with 33 putts (1 x 3 and 4 x 1 putts) but never looked like making a birdie all day
