Nail on head. When Poulter is fist pumping in an empty field, and there's no one behind the ropes to tell Reed he's a fat tosser then what's the point?Right decision for me, bit of a pointless exercise without the crowds.
I think the Ryder Cup is very different to your weekly PGA event. These events are fine with no fans, but the Ryder Cup is all about that pressure cooker atmosphere and who handles it the best, etc.I think the decision to defer was informed by seeing how much the absence of fans is impacting golf and other sports played since resumption!
Inevitable as the virus is rampant in the US at the moment. Bringing 50,000+ fans together in one place and then distributing them back all over the world doesn't seem like a good idea.
