RUM

I got a message from Salford Rum about a new one they have just made. Duerrs Marmalade with some spices. Well the wife is going to Manchester on Saturday so I tried to coax her into picking me a bottle up. Too late. The lot was gone in THREE HOURS !!!!!! They are doing another run in January so will place my order for it. My stocks will be needing a top up by then.

If there was one job I would love for a day it’s going behind the scenes re how these rum distillery’s come up with the recipes for these rums. Marmalade in Rum. 😳

I was very close to opening a bottle of Santa tTeresa 1796 yesterday. I had a quick read up on the rum.
There website had this to say.

palate

Unique taste of nuts, leather, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate, prunes, hints of honey and pepper.

How does he you even come up with these recipes 😳

Please forgive my ignorance but never been a rum drinker.
I have been bought a bottle of Appleton estate for Xmas.
Is it any good and more importantly what should I drink it with?

Probably depends on which bottle it is. That said I would suggest whoever bought you the bottle gave it a bit of thought rather than buying you a named popular bottle.
Appletons is a good brand. If it’s a better bottle neat would be fine. But me being a commoner, it’s either with coke, ice and a slice or this time Of the year a good hot chocolate.
Missis T was on a night out and a guy sat a glass of rum Over a glass with hot water. The steam realised the flavours in the Rum 😳👍

Cheers Tash.
I have no idea of which bottle it is to be honest.
I’ll crack it open at some point over Xmas and decide from there what to put it with

A nice tipple that. As Tash said can’t beat a little coke mixer. However if you want to take it a up a level and have a little flavour sensation, couple of ice cubics a finger or two as a measure for the rum and topped off with a nice ginger beer 🤤. A nice spiced winter warmer then 👌

We got some Ginger beer kicking about so I’ll give that a go. Cheers

Lambs spiced rum is my favourite. I love it neat no ice.
I’ve tried many others and not many I like neat so they go in cocktails.

Got a few bottles for Christmas; Dead Man’s Fingers flavours of;
Dark Spiced
Mango
Cherry

Also got bottles of:
Kraken Dark spice
Bumbu

The DMF dark spice is nice over ice or with a splash of coke.
Not tried the Mango yet but they may be a lemonade mixer due to in my mind being sweet or perhaps just straight.
The Cherry is dangerously! With a splash of Coke Zero it’s literally like drinking Dr Pepper I’ve already drunk a fair bit as a result 😂

Kraken is versatile but good with both Coke and Ginger beer.

Bumbu is pretty much my favourite go to tipple as it’s so easy to drink and smooth. Already consume in the cupboard half drunk so the new bottle helps keep me topped up 😂

Bumbu, I have only had it once in a Wetherspoons in Oban and it was gorgeous. Unfortunately I had to drive back to Loch Fyne and only had a taste of it. It is a Rum I could easily drink with just ice . 👍

Treat yourself to a bottle Tash you won’t be disappointed. It’s definitely a nice smooth tipple with just ice but equally mixes well with coke, ginger beer etc. it’s really versatile and just lovely to drink.

Off to Tunisia on Tuesday and guess what I will be looking for in Duty free 😄 Yer leading me astray 😄

I mentioned the Wetherspoons in Oban as me and Missis T met another two couples for the weekend. Anyway one of the guys mentioned his son works in Wetherspoons. He had txt him and the next thing we have drinks on the table his son had paid for and sent to us. 😳 didn’t know you could do that. Anyway the other guy said that’s nice, but try this and he comes back with a round of bumbu drinks 😖 I was driving ☹️

Best time to buy then. I got a bottle in Gatwick duty free reduced from £40 to £18 ☺️.

We did that for BiL stag do in a Wetherspoons, took a picture of him in a wedding dress posted it to social media with the name of the Spoons and table number, we had a table full of drinks for an hour solid with people not even in the same county sending drinks to the table 😂

I got a bottle of the Bumbu Cream. Interesting stuff, a rum-based version of Baileys.
