Rules

Rule 28

If a ball is deemed unplayable in a bunker the player may proceed under clause a (play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played), b (drop a ball behind the point where the ball lay keeping that point directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped with no limit to how far behind that point the ball may be dropped or c (drop a ball within 2 club lengths of the spot where the ball lay but not nearer the hole.

In a bunker if the player opts for b or c the ball must be dropped in the bunker

Penalty for breach - matchplay = loss of hole, strokeplay = two shot penalty

Yes you can, as quoted by Homer. I've always wondered how it would be received by an opponent if you dropped out when faced with a sand shot that might be difficult to get out of the bunker.

erm no , Homer didnt quote that , it has to be stroke and distance to come out of the bunker :)
