Rakes. Where to leave them

I hate it when I hit a shot that looks like it is missing the bunker but then hits the rake handle and deflects into the bunker. Rakes should always in in the bunker IMHO.
I've played over 2000 rounds, not sure that had ever happened to me. If it had, would have been years ago and long forgotten.

Probably not high up in my personal frustrations on golf. Though, if it was, I suppose the rake could equally deflect my ball away from the bunker. Swings and roundabouts

I can't ever remember that happening to me , I do have various memories of the rake stopping my ball from rolling in the middle of the bunker and leaving me in a terrible position

Can I ask how many times that had happened to you? How many times would it definitely have not gone in the bunker?

When I started playing my uncle told me to leave rakes IN bunkers as "you don't want it to stop someone's ball going in now do you?" Seems fair enough. I've never done differently
