As we all know, there are 34 rules in the game of golf. However, sometimes they can be overly complicated so maybe it's a good time to re-write them and simplify them a bit. So, here are a few simple rules of golf that everyone should be aware of.

Rule #

1) Always hit your provisional ball first

2) Never leave a birdie/eagle putt short

3) When in the poo, always get the ball back in play with your next shot

4) If you have a shot over water that requires a career shot to make it and you go for it, you won't hit a career shot.

5) You will hit trial clubs from the Pro shop really well. As soon as you pay for them you'll never hit a decent shot with them again.

This is 5 that I'm aware of, need another 29 to complete the 2012 edition of the rule book.

Over to you guys..............

If you miss a putt, and then have a second go, you will always hole out.

You can play with a shonky ball for ages, but new ones only last one hit before disappearing into the bundu.

New golf shinies attract buried stones.

Always buy a roll of tape the pro's use to protect club faces of demo clubs - you always hit great shots when the magic tape is on the club face

thats because it reduces spin!

in a bounce game, hit a practice drive into a field, it will be your best drive of the month!

Waiting for the green to clear as "if I really catch this it might reach" will ensure you hit half your normal distance and probably take three shots instead of one to reach the green.

All good disaster holes end with a 3 putt.

As witnessed yesterday.............

If, after playing 3 off the tee, you hit a perfect drive into the centre of the fairway and you do not say the immortal phrase "I should have done that the first time" you are instantly disqualified.

If you take a brand new ProV1 out of the packet and on its first hit you smash it oob or into the water or deep into the rough - then the financial penalty is severe enough and you can have your next shot for free ;)

Bad shots come in threes. Your third bad shot is just the start of the next series of three.

Never buy a putter until you have had a chance to throw it.
