This has to be one of the most picturesque courses in the world: the Atlantic on one side, the Caribbean on the other, and greens so perfect even I could putt well on them! You choose which tees you wish to play from - we chose the black tees, making the course 6,319 yards, but the big hitters can go for the gold tees and play the course at 6,851 yards. After a warm welcome in the clubhouse our hired gear - Taylormade Burner woods and irons - were on the cart waiting for us. There is a warm-up area where practice balls are supplied, a chipping area and a large putting green. The course meanders along, there are some challenging tee-shots where you hope to hit the excellent fairways, lakes await errant shots, and like any good course it builds to a tremendous finish: an innocuous par 4 14th hole takes you to the top of a hill where below, the 15th tee awaits: a well-bunkered par 3 with views to die for, the Atlantic in the background. The 16th and 17th run along the shoreline, then the 18th takes you back to the clubhouse. Best course I ever played? In the word of the immortal lager ad, probably!!
