Aye, brings back some fond memories - beautiful course, even if I was still hammered from the night before!

Played here yesterday, quite simply a superb course.
Hardly a breath of wind either.
If anyone is up north, it's definitely a course to play.

Royal Dornoch(and others)..4 of us are back from starting at Royal Dornoch on Friday at 2 p.m....what a course both scenically and coursewise..every hole is a pleasure to try and play, the greens are huge and run from back to front and side to side with flags positioned in dips and hollows and on the tops of rises. The whole place was stunning and the reception we received was so good, staff were great and the starter was a character(and so helpful about lines to take on holes).Saturday was kicking off at 8 a.m.with 18 on the Struie course(which I think is not a championship course style but a very pleasant, easy walking, carrying clubs course(helps when you've played really well and won the money!!!).Then into the cars and on down to Boat Of Garten for the afternoon round ...what a difference from the sparseness of 2 links courses, trees everywhere yet still great turf to play off and really good true greens(again put the money in the pocket)Really scenic course with some tricky approach shots off some links style lies.Finished in the near darkness(or as we say up here 'the gloaming')
Sunday was Spey Valley, wow, you need to be fit for this place, scenery was just stupendous as were some of the holes. They are long but very interesting as to where you need to play to to leave a shot or even the next one(some of the par 4's would be 5's elsewhere)
Greens were very true and constant speed ,bunkers were deep and you just sank into them. But all in all a very enjoyable course!!
Digs we stayed in were really welcoming with the full breakfast scenario...to start you off...4 different courses, different scenery, different layouts but all thoroughly enjoyable.
If we can do it again then we will(thank you Bunkered)But next year the thinking is that Silloth/Workington/Maryport/Brampton may be calling!
We are so lucky in having so much choice and so many amazing places to go(o.k. the logistics may have meant a bit of rushing around and a bit of racing up and down the road network but BOY,WAS IT WORTH IT..the nightlife was pretty dam good as well-I'm too old for 10 pints a night,so settled for 6..wimp!)
