Brendy, enjoy Castlerock i think its a fantastic course which is as tough as old boots of the back tees at a Par 73, i've played about a dozen times and look forward to it.

Haven't played RCD or Ardglass how close are they to Larne ? really fancy Ardglass i think its about £60 at the weekend i think.

Even better go to Donegal and play the 2 courses at Ballyliffin , Rosapenna and Dunfanaghy,as well as Rosses Point at Sligo and Murghvay at Donegal and Portsalon, great tracks.

Hour and a quarter if you get a clear run (faster if you wish but not advisable as the roads will have cameras). Ardglass for the general environment in which it sits is worth the money alone.
Played Castlerock on the way to Ballyliffin, hated every minute of it too because the weather was poor, had yanks in front wandering left and right, did 8 holes in well over 2 hours so gave up, only cost us £15 each as our clubs have an agreement in place. Looking forward to tomorrow as the weather is better and ther eis a load of us out and wont be so slow knowing the guys going.

Northern ireland is full of fantastic links courses that arent aswell publicised as rcd and r.portrush. Castlerock is a stunning course and the green fees are reasonable. Another extremely challenging links course is kirkistown!!

Murph if you are over next year send me a message, I work in Newcastle and will be able to get you on with a member and myself if you want. Played the ainsley yesterday, it's in great shape. Enjoy Monday snelly, only bad news for you though is the slieve donard have sold their soul Nd only serve murphys - a crap replacement of Guinness

Cheers, I will certainly be back over, so I'll be taking you up on that one.

Got back from Belfast today after a great trip to RCD. It was simply out of this world and confirmed my opinion that this is the best golf course I have ever played. It was beautiful, in perfect condition and is just the most fantastic layout - a real joy to play.

It was certainly not as hard as last year either and I managed a creditable (apologies for immodesty) 77 off the yellows in a force 6, gusting force 7 wind. As an example, on the 8th hole I was straight into the wind with 158 yards to the flag. I cracked a nice 2 iron in and was on the green but still 10 yards short!

The actual golf day was a great success too with a lot of money raised for the charity - Co-operation Ireland.

A really wonderful trip with superb company at my absolute favourite golf course.

I took some photos on my phone but they don't do it justice, plus I haven't yet worked out how to post a photo in the new forum so it will have to wait. Suffice to say, the 3rd to the 9th are all stunning.

Play there if you can. It is just brilliant and Slieve Donard really looked after us well too.

Amazed at this. I could not believe it but you were right - no Guinness at Slieve Donard. The Murphys was poor too.

In addition, they don't stock Jamesons! They have done a deal to only stock Bushmills! Still, the Black Label Bushmills was lovely....

You lucky lucky golfer, best course I have played, just wonderful, forget your score and have a great time, the blind tee shot on the 9th is magical (if you find the fairway).

I hope to get back there next year at any cost!!
