Don't forget the tax, insurances, gas and electric certificates etc etc. We live a stones throw from Royal Lytham and have always decided it's not worth the hassle as the rental you receive is not that big. Unless of course you live in a huge house of course.

I highly doubt we will rent it out as you mentioned its probably not worth the hassle after paying out for all the things needed.

Last time the open was at Hoylake (2014) my friend rented 2 rooms to journo's for the week and catered for them. He got something decent money wise (not unbelievable) but more importantly got free entry all week with VIP tickets. Also had the chance to follow a few players inside the ropes on the practice days as well.
