Roy Hodgson pulled up by the FA

I think I would be offended to be the astronaut ... But seriously this is an analogy that needs to get across a message and the importance of roles within a team done in a light hearted way. If someone calls you a monkey do you reference colour? I don't.

And if for instance Andros Townsend was asked about whether Hodgson would have him in the starting 11 in Brazil - and replied 'you need to ask the organ grinder and not the monkey'

Wouldn't be great if he did - would certainly confuse the PC facists (can I say that) and those out for a 'racist' story :)

The BBC are still running the non-story again this morning, running a clip of Norwich Manager Chris Hughton saying that, knowing Roy, he is sure no offence was intended. I wonder why they chose Chris Hughton? Nothing to do with the colour of his skin, surely?

Definitely not!... well maybe definitely not! :p

Nice to see Andros Townsend's stance on the whole matter. Having originally tweeted that no offence was meant, none was taken and that it wasn't newsworthy, he has now come out and said that he took it as a compliment that the manager wanted him to have as much of the ball as possible. Lets see if the press are as keen to report that........

...except now we have some scribe saying that Townsend was offended. So go on Andros - now is your chance to clear the matter up - and once you've made your clarification statement just tell the hacks and anti-racism sensitivistas "..well I'm glad to get that monkey off my back" See what they make of that. :)

Townsend has already; the hack is claiming that the "anonymous England player" is cross because Townsend has backed Hodgson when the "anonymous England player" thought Townsend was offended and thought it was his job to report it to the press. Not to his and Hodgson's employer at the time of the incident, the FA, to have the matter dealt with through the official channels, but by the court of public opinion.

Well "anonymous England player", if you're that offended by the whole thing then come out publicly and repeat your allegations, stop hiding behind the hack, or shut up. And to the hack, the same message; stop hiding behind the "I won't reveal my sources" line, let it rest or tell us who the accuser is.

Gerrard to call the team together and demand that whoever blabbed to The Sun owns up and apologises to the team and Hodgson? Well it's a possibility I hear.

I think it went something like this.....
Reporter: "Boss, boss England WON!"
Editor: "WHAT! How the hell did they do that? How on earth are we going to bash Hodgson and the England team now?"
Reporter: " Well I have heard from a guy who's friends, cousins, brother-in-laws, sister is a cleaner at Wembley and was told Hodgson told a rubbish joke that could, if twisted enough, be racist!"
Editor: "Brilliant! that'll do it!"

It just goes to show how little respect any England manager has from the press in this country. Most countries media stand by the national manager unless it's a problem on the pitch.

...and someone should tell all these numpty ex-pros and analysts that Hodgson did NOT say anything inappropriate, it was NOT a gaff, it was NOT a mistake. Hodgson has nothing to apologise for and I wish he hadn't. Indeed all those implying that he made a mistake should themselves apologise to Hodgson for implying that he what he said could be racist.

And I also don't think that this has really actually that much to do with the England Manager - more it is a manifestation of 'Chris Jefferies syndrome' (see Bristol murder). Make something of perceptions and the flimsiest evidence - for a story - some more sales of your rag - and a few filthy cheap bucks - regardless of the damage suffered by innocent folk.

note that if this is the sort of guff you have to put up if you support England then I might have to go reject the suggestion of my wife to change my allegiance, and instead stick to supporting Scotland.

.

Even the BBC news tried to put a racist slant on their headline - unbelievable!

Did anyone watch The Sunday Supplement on SP 1 yesterday?
Everyone of the so called journalists said that what Mr. Hodgson had said was "inapropriate".
These clowns should be ashamed of themselves. Do they not realise that this sort of over sensative pc nonsense only adds fuel to the arguements of the true bigots out there ??
Are they just thick ? Or are some being rather clever..?

Exactly the sort of nonsense I'm talking about - I was shouting at the radio when some were doing the same on R5Live. Nothing inappropriate about it at all. Hodgson better beware of mentioning anything philosophical to his players. Imagine the furore if he suggested to a player 'you should try reading some Kant' ... Oooh - I think Hodgson called me a nasty word.

Or. "Has John Terry written another book boss"?
