Rory

I think it was a valid observation and question?

What a boring sterile place this would be if all we did was be positive, agreed and did group hugs

Maybe his girlfriend is busy this weekend so he doesn't want to be on his own....:smirk:

Another pointless crack at a bloke that hasn't done anything to anyone. Hope he wins this weekend, but then you'll still find something.

Well said:thup:
He's 24 with 2 majors to his name. That's more than Mickelson,Els,Westwood,Rose,Donald,Monty,Garcia,Norman..... Had all won by the same age. He ain't doing too bad in my book.

I've been hard on him of late, but I'm glad he's playing well and looking to play into contention.

I love the way people are reacting as if he stood with his phone at the practice ground typing this in between shots.

A lot of these celebs use marketing software which releases tweets at scheduled times for best exposure or failing that they have a lackey in an office do it for them.

Currently sitting at -1 so not a bad start through 11.

And it affects no one, but still people moan.

Maybe the Nike execs will be having serious mutterings about this in the boardroom

I have not b. moaning, it's business, well timed marketing. Glad to see he has the little glint in his eye and he seems to b on form!

Does anyone actually care what is tweeted and when! Would have been done by his PR people and even if it had been about how he's having a bacon sarnie people would find reason to find fault in that before a major...

That said I still don't like Rory but that will be some sound system

And a sound system that cost him hee haw no doubt unlike what it would cost us minions.

Valentino nails it.

How long does it take to send a Tweet? A minute...? People are actually sending this guy messages on Facebook asking if he should be doing this on the day of a major? God forbid he goes for a dump or something, he could be in there as long as 3 minutes.

FOCUS, Rory!

You have minions, damn you I'm more jealous of that than Rory getting a sound system worth millions. If you have enough spare can I have the one in the Captain America outfit he's cool

TO be fair I'd tweet about a new Bose system even if I wasn't paid to do it! Have a pair of QC3s which sound phenomenal, can only imagine what his custom setup sounds like #jealous!

Besides which, he probably didn't even post that himself, and he was more than likely contractually bound to release a tweet to the same effect at or around that time.

Cut the guy a break: he's 24, has 2 majors to his name and more money than he can ever spend - he's doing rather well for himself. If you don't like him, don't watch him. Haters gonna hate.

has Rory lost a bit of weight? He's certainly had his hair cut (and not just compared with rory-mop of 5 yrs ago). I like him. He is honest and self-depracting and not in a 'knowing' way. But even lesser mortals like us know how losing focus on the golf course can really end up in a mess. Our focus may be less defined or intense - but we stillneed it to keep a good or OK round going. Is he carrying too many 'other' stuff to the first tee and at that point trying to shelf it. That's tough to do. As soon as a problem occurs during the round that other stuff elbows it's way in - having been doing press-ups to keep fit whilst on the shelf.

I am neither a lover or hater of Rory, he's a talented player who will go on and win a lot of tournaments and probably half a dozen or more majors. However, I do think there are two distinct camps with Rory, there are those who want to criticise him for everything he does ie the twitter thing yesterday (which was a complete non event imo) and those (like Mark Roe, Monty etc..) who seem to want to gloss over any negatives in his game or setup and make it about Rory proving people wrong.

There should be some middle ground views more widely heard, which in my opinion is that Rory is very talented but also still very inexperienced, he needs a stronger caddy, nothing against JP but he doesn't seem to aid Rory's course management which is where he struggles imo.

He also needs to mix up his management set up, I am all for him having family involved in it if that is what makes him comfortable but he would probably benefit from two or three independent people involved too, ie someone who isn't worried about telling him things he might not want to hear. We all have families and will know how hard it can be to tell someone you are close something that they might not want to hear.

Those are just my thoughts

Putting all the Twitter stuff to one side, I thought his swing looked very good, better than of late. And -1 is a good start. He might not win this week but it would be nice to see him get in and about the Top 5 or so.

I don't care what's tweeted, but then I don't use twitter. However, surely the only reason people like Rory (or his team on his behalf) "tweet" is because there are hoards of people who follow him who expect him to be tweeting? Isn't that the whole point of twitter? By following someone, you create the monster, don't moan when he does want you want him to do (EDIT: This wasn't aimed at you Fader, more at the OP)
