I have to agree with the majority of people saying that Rory is on the way up.What amazes me most though is the number of people who think that he is just a flash in the pan and could never hope to even imagine emulating Tiger Woods. Is it just me or is Tiger being put on a pedestal by followers who cannot imagine someone from these shores reaching the giddy heights that he has acheived? I say bring on the new blood! :D ;)

I dont think anyone has suggested he is a flash in the pan, experience has shown many a great prospect to faulter at some stage during their rise, he will always be a great golfer but being the best of the best and sustaining it is another prospect. I genuinely hope he does and the signs are great, but he has a long way to go.

I have to agree, very well said.

But as much as we appreciate your input, could we try not create duplicate posts as we now have two seperate posts for 'Rory McIlroy'

It gets confusing! :D

I don't recall using the words Tiger Woods in any of the posts either here or on the other thread and certainly don't put him on a pedestal. My favourite golfer is Westwood.

I'm not arguing that he is a mighty talent and could take the world by storm but at this stage it is all conjecture. If he gets in the mix at a major lets see how he handles it and then have another discussion. I really hope he does well as he seems a decent grounded young man but as yet there is a long way to go before he can live up to all the hype.

Woah there! I wasn't aiming any comments at you and can only appologise if this is the way that i came across. I was only trying to express my optimism for golfers from this continent stopping the monopoly of American golfers.

Rory is no flash in the pan, I think he has a long and sucsesful carear ahead of him. I do however feel it might be a bit soon for a major, but you never know if he is in the mix on a final day he has a chance.

Good Luck to him I say.

No big fella, there are two threads running here and it would be easier if everyone posted in the same one, its all on the same subject anyway.

I think people are wanting to say that Tiger is the best player there ever has been or ever will be and are reluctant to accept that some new kid on the block will go on and be a success. I for one hope the young guy keeps his feet on the ground and focuses on his golfing goals rather than a flambouyant lifestyle like Clarke.

I did here him say he would like to play more golf in the USA which would be to the detrement of the European Tour.
