Feel hes a little cocky, from what i read on it.. i need to see the intervew to make up my mind fully.

However i would not count out tiger.. I personnaly feel he could burn up the field... Be just like he to be counted out and to come out the best player in the ryder cup this year.

Hope i am wrong tho time will tell.
 
I don't think the yanks are in any position to comment, they have always had loud mouths and their fans are just job sh***s.

Good on rory, tiger is very beatable. that said np doubt he will win all his matches now LOL.
 
Not really sure how anyone ranked in the top ten in the world can be considered cocky. Cocky is when you are ranked 1000th, saying you can beat the number one.

Agree with all the others that have said there's nowt wrong with being cocky if you've got the game to back it up.

There's a fine line though between cockiness and arrogance, and I'd hate to see him (or anyone on the Euro side) step over it.
 
When your as good as Rory is at his age he can be as cocky as he wants, he won this year on the PGA Tour unlike Tiger. I would put him in against anyone and bet he'd come out on top.

Think it might have been that dwarf Pavin looking to stoke the fire as he's never said anything else worth listening to. Listened to Mickelson's press confrence ,the guy was class he brushed all the nonsense aside and kind of turned it against the media,quality.
 
I'd have said confident if McIlroy had had any Ryder Cup experience to draw on. It is a unique event and it does get to players. Whether he'll deal with everything and be in a position to go out and play top quality singles matchplay by Sunday, especially if we are trailing and need a strong last day, remains to be seen.

If he gets a little overawed or has a bad opening day then that cockiness might well be misplaced. I think Monty will have a definitive line up (plan A if we are in front and plan B if we need to catch up) and I doubt he'll deviate to pander to a players desire to play Tiger. Cocky in my book
 
If it doesn't happen this weekend Sky should organise a 36 hole televised match between the 2 with proceeds going to charity. 18 at Lough Erne and 18 at Isleworth.
 
I think it shows confidence. It's his first Ryder Cup remember, the Americans may have him marked down as a potential easy target. I reckon Rory's just telling the Americans that he's ready for them - whoever he plays - even the World's number 1 (regardless of TW's form) and the media circus that will follow them around the course.

Cocky would be saying something like "I'm going to crush whoever I play" - rather like a boxer before a bout.
 
I think that we would all be worried if he said he didnt want to play tiger!!
His positivity is a breath of fresh air, he is a great player, and him and Mcdowell almost won the world cup, second to the molinari brothers, so he should be confident friday in the format too, before he plays the singles. I think it would be nice if they all said the wanted to play the best in the world, woods or not, it shows desire to beat the best!

Confident / cocky who cares - I would certainly back him and a few other Europeans to take on and beat Woods at the moment. I would love it if Tiger got a good spanking in every game he plays this week!

I'm I the only one who doesn't buy this 'Tiger is the weak link' thing.

From what I've seen of Tiger these last few weeks, I for one think we should be a lot more worried about him than many people seem to be. I might be wrong but I actually get the impression that he is more into it this year than he ever has been and that can't be good.
 
I agree. I think the weight of expectation is off him for once after the year he's had and he can go about his business. I think he could actually be their top scorer this week. Might be worth a fiver

No your not the only one, I think he will surprise a lot of people.

Now his "Aura" has gone, he now probably thinks he's one of the boys. Something not experienced by him before and may help his game. But not too much eh? :cool:
 
Confident is being a top 10 player with tournament wins under your belt and significant Major performances.

Cocky is gobbing off about someone much better than you when you don't have ANY tournament wins under your belt and you dress like someone handing out leaflets for a mobile phone company.

Sorry Ricky. I quite like you but learn your place.
