Ronaldo or Messi................who would you want?

Ronaldo........................he's just unbelievable!

Messi without a doubt. Ronaldo is a cheat a nd falls over very easily unlike Messi who is kicked and pushed but still stays on his feet.

Messi dives just as much as Ronnie, plenty evidence on youtube. The one against chelsea a few seasons back is a personal fave.

Messi wins by a country mile though, best played of the modern era if not ever!

138 goals in 136 matches mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Ronaldo is a fantastic player, but I think he plays for himself and for personal records.

Messi plays for the team and for team records. He isn't as bad a person or in the diving stakes. Can you imagine if they were in the same team.

Messi, he is a better player technically (yes Ronaldo does possess sublime skill also), plays for the team and not himself and has an almost inordinate sense of humility that CR will never have in a million years of trying.

Messi every single day of the week, not just for his sublime football skills but also because he isn't that diving cheat Ronaldo!

Ronaldo is one of the all time greats. For footballing skills I would put him in the same class as the likes of Pele, Maradona or George Best. Messi is in a class of his own, in my opinion, the best ever.

Now if you were to ask me to compare Ronaldo with Tom Daley, Ronaldo just edges it :D

Now if only Messi had Ronaldo's right foot, and heading ability, you might get a decent player out of the two of them. Never thought I would see a better player than Pele, who played in four world cups from 1958 throught to 1970, in which Brazil won three of them. Messi could be a better player, although he has not shown the same form at International level, as he has done at club level. He is only 24 so has time, and he is a better player than Ronaldo.

Difficult one as they are both top players, but I would go with Messi -3cannot see him playing anywhere else but Barca for the rest of his career and appears more humble than Ronaldo (who I can see leaving Madrid not long after Mourinho departs). However you do have to bear in mind that there are other players at Barcelona and Real who enable them to play to the best of their abilities. It would be interesting to see how Messi plays if there's no Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas; likewise Ronaldo without Alonso, Higuain, Ozil.

Seen this on a number of occasions this season. One that jumps to mind was the 4-0 away to Zaragoza in November. Xavi rested, Iniesta and Fabregas injured. Midfield that day IIRC was Busquets, Alcantara, Keita and a youth player called Fontas (who was being played out of position). The net result was a Messi goal and 2 assists.

From what I can recall, aren't Zaragoza in one of the relegation spots? If so, then probably explains why he was still so effective. Probably our equivalent is Man U resting some of their better players against the Wolves and Rooney scoring a brace! Was thinking more along the lines of on a week-in, week-out basis against stronger opposition. Not doubting the genius of Messi (or Ronaldo for that matter) but I sometimes think it's overlooked just how good the players are around them. I actually think that last season both Xavi and Iniesta were the driving force for Barcelona in all competitions and that enabled Messi play and then to take most of the plaudits.
