Just wondered if anyone had ever used these guys for custom fitting or purchased gear from them ?

10 years ago they were very good but last time I went there - just over 12 months ago, the shop was less than half the original size with less choice and was nowhere near as good staff. I have not been to Direct Golf at Becketts Farm but you can try things on the range there.

No good for you Wolfie as it`s run by Blue noses. :D
The shop is less than half the size it used to be but the guys there are friendly enough and the banter and advice is good. Last thing I bought was some Mizuno retroflex gloves, naturally in their beloved blue and white. Don`t use it for much now though.

Hope this helps

Cheers guys. I am going over saturday to try out some R9 tp irons. I won't hold it against them being blue noses. Afterall we are all midlanders together fending off the north and the overpaid southern softy south :D

I hear on the grape vine its going to re open as Robin Hood Golf Centre and be full of all the blue chip brands and have a club fitting suite up stairs like the old days.
Would be nice to have the old shop back again full of the kit we want and not the crap its had in it for the last couple of years

Its true the old Robin Hood Golf Centre is coming back opening March 2014 with all the brands and a great custom fit suite plus highly qualified custom fit guys.
Im definitely going to get down there in March and fancy one of the new xhot 2 drivers.
You guys heard any news?

H'mm!

Is one of the Staff's name Monty (or Montgomery) perchance? And I don't mean the 'May Team' guy! - He's a Northerner (Scot) who is now a 'Southern Softy'!

I guess all will be clear in March when it opens but don't think Colin Montgomerie will be working there!

Perhaps I was too subtle - or snapped at a hook!

Colin might not be working there, but I suspect you will!

If 'being sneaky' is the way you wish to promote a venture from Day 1, then I will certainly not be supporting it! And would encourage others to boycott such a venture too.

Have a last free bump on me though.
