Looking at maybe changing my phone contract as I'll be working away a fair bit this year, anyone know of a provider that doesnt charge extortionate roaming charges? Currently on sky but they charge £2 a day for data

Vodafone do charge for roaming in the EU, £2 per day. I was in Portgual start of the month and got a message telling me so.
You can buy a bolt-one to make it £1 apparently.

Yes, I got caught out with Vodaphone last year in Majorca. When I complained with a threat to switch they gave me a goodwill refund.

Apologies for duff info @SaintHacker . I was with Three up until 3-4 months ago, eu roaming was free then.

Odd about vodafone. I'm currently with lebara, using the vodafone network. I have free roaming with them 🤷‍♂️

Tesco mobile don't charge. They have what are referred to as "home from home destinations". You can use your minutes and texts etc as if you were in the UK. The one below is from my trip to Denmark in January but have also been to Germany and Netherlands and received the same message. Don't know how it works outside of the EU.

No worries, its on contracts that have been taken out in the last couple of years, older ones ita still free, so not totally duff!👍🤣

Was litterally just looking at O2 SIM only deals as I'm about to come out of contract

Anyways 12 month deal

£15 pm
100gb data
Unlimited calls and texts
EU roaming included

Uswitch was on

EE have an EU roaming £2 per day add on, but when I called to renew my SIM only deal I asked about it and they've given it to me for free. Can't really argue with that.

I think Tesco are changing though and on contracts being taken out now there will be roaming charges.

Edit - looks like Tesco will be bringing in roaming charges later this year.Screenshot_20230301_063523_Chrome.jpg

iD Mobile don't currently charge roaming costs in x50 European destinations (the 50 sounds too many but some islands and dependencies are listed separately). They use the 3 network in UK. It's who I'm considering as O2 are bunging up their rates by about 14%. Seems iD can meet my Sim only need for about £7 per month

I've just moved to O2, Vodafone signal near to me is useless and it doesn't seem to allow phone over wifi. Anyway, Free Calls, free texts, 4gb of data, free EU Roaming, £6 a month for 12 months.

Trying to keep it simple, I am with EE. If you have a contract going back to June June2021 or before ( I think that’s the date) whatever your contract re calls,data-txts is free to use in the EU,( Missis T has this). However if like me you upgraded to a new phone and contract after that date it is not. You can either pay a daily rate or you can pay £10 per month so you can use your phones contract ( calls, txt data) in the EU. Thats what I did last month when we took the sproggs to Lanzarote. cancel it via txt when you are back or they will continue to take £10. I have let it roll over for this month as I am away again. The roaming add on includes USA, Mexico, Canada and I think Oz and New Zealand. However it is going up to £15 a month in April. Used it a few times and it is very very good.

My EE contract includes what are called Smart Benefits, and you can have one “live” at any one time. One of those is no roaming charges throughout the EU as well as a number of other countries including the USA.

Switched the wife to Lebara the other day

Unlimited UK calls and texts
15 GB data
Roaming included (eu)
100 international mins

Uses Vodafone

U switch deal

£6.95 a month .. £3 a month for first 3 months

Bargain

I need to use O2 as only network that gets signal at work , so the £15 month deal I posted above seems the one

Bought a OnePlus 11, 256gb 16 ram. £130 off with trade in (£100 bonus just for trading in) after a year I'll have repaid that and it will last a while I'm sure
