having now been out for 9 months (knee replacement) im hoping to start playing using a buggy in the next few weeks. I have only been playing prior to that for approx 2 years and wondered how the handicap system works? Do i go back to the 14 i had achieved or do i have to begin again??

If you are still at the same club as a member, your handicap should be listed as "inactive" and you would need to put in 3 card to activate it.

Good luck with the knee

Chris

but if your not at the same club you will start over! 3 cards with best counting for your handicap thius being the amount you are over SSS after making any triple bogeys or worse doubles,

As Chris says, if you have continued to be a member of the club your handicap will remain unchanged. If you played 3 qualifiers in 2011 before your operation, your handicap would still be active.

His previous handicap would also have to be taken into account.

thanks for your input. I am still with the same club and went from 15 to 14 2 days before the op after a good medal. Looking forward to getting back out there!

Great news, mate! I look forward to seeing you on the tee at Westerham soon. :whoo:

Think you've done the right thing it easing yourself back in.

3 cards will do the job! I had a break of 2 1/2 years so lost my handicap of 2.6. Had to restart off of 6 because of the county rules. Was nice having a few shots to play with but a pain in the yaris to get back down to that quick!
