Hello again golf buddies! I have been taking a wee break from all things golf until last month, when I threw myself into solid range and par 3 practice. My swing is slowly getting better and I can now hit my rescue and driver fairly well(thanks for the rescue tips forum).I am very tempted to finally join a nice little golf club(whitemoss?) and get a handicap but I need some advice.Should I join now, obtaining a handicap in the late twenties or wait a few months, get some lessons, practice like mad and get a lower handicap? What did you all do? Jump in at the deep end or bide your time until you had a better standard of golf? Cheers! :D

Welcome home.

Dive in. Head first. Go for it.

Your choice?
Banging balls on the range or playing golf and meeting other golfers?

I wish I'd joined ages before I did.

Totally agree with Imurg, get out there and play - best practice you can get IMHO.

Oh, and welcome back. :) :)

what they said, dont get into the habbit of being a range hitter, its ok being able to hit a ball but chip & putt is where your game is at, and ranges dont offer that.

I know a very capable golfer who used to work at a range, he would hit the ball great, be able to shape shots and pretty much put the ball exactly where he wanted it, from 50 yards he was toilet. tee & fairway hit the ball like a 5 h/capper, 50 yards in hit the ball like a 6 month old baby.

Thanks for the welcome and advice,is good to be back, will let you all know how I get on with my application,ta! ;)
