Gents,
having just read a post about custom-fitting it has got me thinking. I bought my irons off the shelf, and compared to how I hit my driver, it would seem I'm "missing out". Would it be possible to get on a lauch monitor and have the shafts etc changed, or would I have to buy a new set of irons? :D

It depends how far out they are if at all.
They can be tweaked a bit but if you are Mr average, then I'm afraid it's the indian, not the arrows lol
My advice would be to see a pro and have them checked

If they are "forged" clubs, there is a bit of adjustment they can do to lie and loft angles.
If they are "cast" then you might find somebody brave enough to have a go, but it will be with the proviso that if they break one, it's not their fault.

I would think Loft & Lie is perhaps the most important to get right in your irons, and as smiffy say's, you should be able to get them changed with a local Pro shop _ I have in the past.

I've thought about this myself, as i'm unlikely to be splashing the cash on new irons anytime soon.
how much are we talking for this kind of thing, any ideas anyone?

Loft and lie alterations? About £25.00 - £50.00 for a set of irons I guess, depends where you go.
New shafts? The world is your oyster.

Don't take this the wrong way but I would save up until you can splash the cash on some new irons and get the full sp c/f done on them.....if you know your pro (ie you buy from him) he would probably do a loft and lie check for nowt.....

Custom fitting is the way to go and seeing that you play TM TP MB I am surprised that you were not offered this at your original purchase.

I would never play non-custom fit. My current gamer driver was non custom when I bought it but it was a steal and I intended to get the shaft changed out anyway.

A retro custom fit could prove pricey but it depends how much you love yr current heads.

If you go the whole hog you will definitely notice a huge difference.

My previous irons were Mizzy MP33s which were shop custom fit at purchase and I subsequently had a "full" custom fit rebuild done at Precision Golf. This came out at about 700 quid, the fitting took 4 hours and all the shafts were SST Pured and clubs built to suit my swing speed tempo etc. Yes it was worth it the clubs were far and away better.

Really it depends on you and how serious you are but I would definitely look at a retro fitting at some level if you are serious about your game.

BTW I would not bother using a Pro/Retailer who sold clubs like yours without doing a custom fit before you ordered!
