Rescued...

Early last month we had to say goodbye to our beloved, beautiful boy Max (see profile pic). He was 15 and every day he melted my heart and made me smile...the most amazing, perfect dog. Our hearts were broken and we miss him so much it hurts.

We took a few days away as the house was so empty without him. We soon knew though that our house wasn't the same without a dog and we still had so much to give another pooch. Max will always be my special one but I have a big heart so...

Meet Barley. We adopted him last week. He's 4 years old and not had a good start to life. He's been in "doggy boot camp" for a number of months being taught some manners. Overall it's been a positive start and he's less unsure every day. His manners aren't bad until a tennis ball is in the vicinity when he forgets them completely!

We're hopeful we can rescue him and he us...

Thats nice - we did the same when we lost our first Golden Retriever - we've rescued 3 now! Its helps the gaping hole thats left and it definitely helps them! Who are you doing the Doggy boot camp with?

Sorry for your loss Amanda. The beasts do wrap themselves around our hearts. I dread the day the dog called Bess leaves us. She's 8 years old next week, just over half way for a Border. Our 5th, and probably last, one. We can't give her the miles we should.

He's been a resident at K9 Interventions near Stevenage who take problem dogs from Labrador Rescue.

Ahh. It is a step change getting used to a young, active dog for sure. His huge desire to retrieve helps use up some energy.

fair play to you for taking on a rescue doggie.

we took on a white gsd she was about 18 mths/2 years old when she came into our lives same age as my eldest boy,we sadly had to say good bye when she was 14.
utterly heartbroken we were,
then in a twist of fate another white gsd came into our lives and we gave her a home,she was 4 1/2 moths old and already had 2 owners.apart for destroying our home we wouldnt change her.
shes now 6 years old and a defo member of the family.

Our first dog, Bonnie a German Shepard was only 8 when she passed and it took us 3yrs to get another dog. It kind of happened by chance in that a friend showed my other half a picture of a rescue dog called Lola, supposedly part Husky, part German Shep. We can see husky tail and shep muzzle, but the rest is anyone's guess.

Our first dog was a boxer called Pedro, he was from Boxer rescue. He was fantastic, massive for a boxer and was soft as muck. The stories I could tell you about him.
he was as good as gold. Built a pen in the corner of the garden and he did his dumps in there every day.
I had to put him to sleep, he was old and tired.one of my worst ever days.

Then winston came along, a bulldog, the most awkward cantankerous flat nosed excuse for a dog ever. Sit meant snore, down meant walking, bed time meant fart.
He was impossible, if anyone came to the house they came to see him. He had his good points ..... I think.
got fed up of wiping his ass every time he had a dump.
New years day he started fitting, it was massively upsetting, I videoed him to show the vet, it didn't matter he had another fit whilst at vets New Year's Day. She gave him an injection to knock him out. She had to lower his brain activity. It worked until we got home he woke up and started walking round the house/ kitchen non stop. He had another half a dozen fits getting worse and worse. finally Missis T shouts me, I was upstairs. I legged it downstairs and winston had had his last fit. He had the last laugh as well. When he passed away in his cage he bit on the cage and locked his jaws on the flippin cage, I had to climb into the cage and bend the bars to get his jaws off the cage. Met the vet and a week later we buried his ashes on the back garden where he used to sit and laugh at me eating his bones.
Grandson plays football with the gnome that's sat over his ashes.
Missis T retires year in July and reckons we will get another dog, think the early front runner is a English bull terrier, but don't rule out a boxers return.
good luck with the new dog and nice to see you go for a rescue dog at that.

To be honest I was probably being harsh on the bulldog but God he was hard work.
He was another dog that someone could not look after, cost me £350. I think I paid about £349 over the odds.
