Ive decided on my new irons and now im looking for a new hybrid and am unsure which one to get Mizuno MX700 /// Callaway Diablo /// Titliest 585H.

What are peoples opinions on these hybrids as my current one has been misbehaving any one have any of these or would reccomend them or even had a go of them ???

Thanks Connor :)

what's your current club?

surely it's you that's misbehaving?

I've hit the MX700, very nice and pretty forgiving. Too similar feeling - a touch lighter maybe - to my Wilson Staff Fybrid to change clubs though.

If you are struggling with your game, don't buy anything with titleist written on it (may be not even balls). They don't make forgiving kit. The 585 is widely regarded as the most difficult hybrid to hit (I've got one too). The 909 is better, but still not as forgiving as say Cobra or others.

mono...

I was reading a review the other day on hybrid clubs published on the MD website.

The MD rescue won the test (OK, no surprise) but I was astonished to read the lack of points scored by the Callaway hybrid. No-one liked it, apart from the pro would said it was awesome.

I was comparing my new fybrid (21) to a Titleist in the pro shop and t.b.h. the head design was almost identical. The head on my first rescue (an MD Equaliser) was also of this design. I loved that MD rescue but somehow always struggled with the shaft.

Have a close look at the head design on these clubs and get one with the smallest hint of offset unless you never slice the ball :)

Importantly, get one with a shaft which seems to work.
Unless I'm way wrong...I think they come with 80g shafts. These are going to be good for accuracy but not so good for distance unless you are a strong/good player.

Make sure you try the fybrid along the line.....I like mine.

The main difference the Titleist will have is not visual. It will have a higher cg, so that it promotes a lower, more penetrating flight, and is easier to work the ball. Not good things if you are after forgiveness, which most hybrid buyers are.

Another golf magazine has just published a hybrid group test. The Callaway scored quite highly. I have both the 3 & 4 Diablo hybrids and like them a lot.

Take several up to the range (if at a club's pro shop) or into the net at a place like AG, and see which one gives you the best results.

Cobra normally come out well in tests. I tried a mates one, and hit it miles, with a slight draw. Very unlike me. Felt a bit light though.

I am not a big fan of Cally stuff. It always sits a bit closed for my liking, even the non draw biased stuff. Nice head cover though.

I've got an MX700 17* and hit it with a slight draw and get a lovely high ball flight for such a low loft. Not completely satisfied with it though as it's not the shape I want , i'd rather have a slight high fade. I guess thats just me and not the club however it does seem to set up a little closed tbh
