So I bought it. Renault Megane scenic 1.6 03 plate. Cost me 750, there was no talking him down.... 2 owners, first guy didn't have it long, second since then. Looks well, drives well, have a bit of trouble with 5 gear but think that's me cos when we went for a spin the guy had no bother.

I will be honest I work with Renault among other brands on a daily basis, and there are issues with Megans, and I would say there are better cars out there for the money.

As long as it's not the 4wd version it should be reasonable enough, certainly no worse than any other 11yr old. One thing though, pretty sure the belt interval on those is 6yrs/72k so you'll be due one soon if it hasn't been done recently.

Owned a Megane 3 door sport hatch, 54 plate .... only had a few issues with it was it neared its 6th year (owned from new).
Replaced it with a gutless Focus (new) 1.6, yawnnnnnn .... had that for 2 years and just traded it in for a Renault Captur.
You will always find someone that has something bad to say about most makes of car, but for me, the Renaults I have owned have been great.
