Help..... what's the best way of removing old spikes from golf shoes????? I'm trying to remove some champ pro stinger metal spikes from some Nike shoes (Q-Lok) but the holes are blocked and I can't get the bloody wrench in and don't want to force them :D

Dig the holes out with a small screwdriver, then ask your pro if he can undo them, unless you have a proper wrench, the cheap flat ones are useless on old spikes.

+1 here. Had the same problem. Got a bucket wide enough to set the shoe in flat. Put in enough warm water to cover the sole without getting on the shoe itself. This softened up the dirt enough to get it out with a small jeweling screw driver.

If you want to avoid the same problem in future it's worth getting into the habit of using the screw driver to clear the holes after every round or two. Especially if you've found yourself in the bunkers a lot.

Get yourself a quality removal tool with the big handle. Apply a lot of downward pressure whilst turning. If the locating pins slip out of the holes then you should take a very small drill bit or small screwdriver and make the hole cleaner and slightly deeper.

Sometimes you find that the holes break and its then impossible to get any purchase on them. In this case you need to make 2 new holes - obviously the same size and distance apart for the removal tool. That never fails.

An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure , so I tend to keep an eye on the spikes and remove them before the holes start to deteoriate.

Is this a serious question or are you having a laugh :D

It's like bottle tops and jars, just ask the wife to do it.

Oh! make sure she turns them anti clockwise, maybe thats were you've been going wrong :D

Thanks for all the suggestions lads....... I finally managed to get this done late last night after having left the shoes soak for an hour in an inch of warm water (thanks for the tip) then clearing out the holes with a fine point awl (think that's what it's called) then after applying enough downward pressure they came loose with a twist

Ha d a nightmare with mine. Black widow spikes. Even after cleaning the holes out, the wrench just ripped the holes. Had to dig it out with a screw driver and knife.

Still got some that are stuck in. Probably be easier to buy new shoes.
