Relationships and Golf, A Fine Line?

It's all a big juggling act!

Myself & my husband play and we have a 3 yr old - plus my husband works shifts! It's a nightmare trying to fit it all in and we don't have endless numbers of people to ask to babysit.

It's a compromise - we only play together if it's a major comp & we take it in turns on the weekend - I usually play Sun, him on Sat. We have the evenings together and hope that when the clocks change we'll get at least an evening each for 9 holes after work.

Mine can spot a new driver or wood from 50 yards! The answer old head covers or like I have a set of Mizuno Tour head covers. Got though 3 drivers and two 3 woods and she's been non the wiser.. Also I could now buy any putter a wanted as long as it goes under the scotty head cover. ;)

Im very lucky that i have a very supportive partner, and she takes an interest.I also have a son that loves golf and she likes it when i take him too.I must admit i take it to the extreme sometimes as i play Sat and sun and practice 2 0r 3 times a week, however treating the misses nice and showing you care in what she does helps a lot.Just in general showing an interest in what your wife or partner does can soften any blow.

Work shifts so if im of during the week and HID is working i'll play for the 4 days im off she doen't bother as long as the kids are picked up and the house clean. In the summer my youngest comes with me and we'll play 9 holes at night so taking him out gets brownie points ,happy days :)

It was my wife who suggested I take up the game again after many years of not playing, so she has got no grounds to complain. Fortunately, my wife has got quite a few hobbies which keep her occupied so I can basically play whenever I like.

I play once at the weekend and 9 holes a couple of nights in the week. Then, in the summer i'll maybe play another 18 holes every few weeks if i'm playing in a society day or at a mates course.

My wife's very understanding as she knows its my passion , and fills a gap since i had to stop playing cricket. However, but not shy in telling me if i start to take the p1ss !!

My wife is great, can play anytime i want, and she never moans....Any chores i have to do will get done and if i have to miss a competition to get it done i will. Every ones a winner.....................

Pete.

Think I'm already on record here as saying HID is a saint. Not only doesn't she mind how much time I spend playing and practicing but she'll usually run me up and pick me up too (only having one car). She never moans, is always encouraging and even more so now she works at a golf club. She knows how important it is to me and she is more than happy with doing her cooking (which she loves) her garden (which always looks amazing once it flowers) and catching up and spending time with friends and family.

Oh and she cleans my grips and my shoes without any prompting. I broke the bank when I met her!!!! :D :D

My boss is a tyrant who views Golf as a total waste of time , money and effort

I normally play on a friday when she is at work, so she doesnt know how much I play

Occasionally I will play when she is around and I virtually have to beg to be allowed to play. and am then made to feel guilty afterwards, she takes no interest in how i played or if I enjoyed myself

playing clandestinely builds its own stress, so I never feel relaxed, maybe thats why im so crap.

May have to find a new wife

Fragger

:(

During the summer months I tend to play 2 night during the week and Saturday plus taking the lad to the range on Sunday morning. Wife doesn'tas long as work around the house and garden gets done. Idon't drink or smoke so she lets me golf instead.
Hopefully now the lad is a member I can increase my play and practice with him tagging along.

Being self-employed I can work my diary so taht I have spare morning/afternoons during the week. If I can get enough time I can play. As long as I get enough hours in it's not an issue. Fridays with Fragger and CVG are almost set in stone unless some pillock books a test when I've told them not to. Weekends are waay too busy to even think about golf.

I just put my two girls into the pen when I go for a game and as long as I take them for a walk and maybe a swim in the river they are happy.

Cannot beat a couple of springer spaniels :D

However my ex wife was a fire breathing dragon when it came to me playing golf (and a lot of other things) maybe thats why she is the ex :D
