So, just watched the re-make of the old Leonard Rossiter sit-com.

The good.

Kept the basic same theme tune. Kept similar humor.

The bad.

Reggies boss is weak compared to the old series.
Martin Clunes (though suited to the role) is not as good a Leonard was.

Overall quite enjoyable though. But not quite as amuzing as before.

Can I relate to it. Yep!!

Or does everyone think that it shouldn't of been messed with and re-vamped?

Not bad, not as good as I expected. M.C. is a bit too straight, but after hearing about it this morning, I was expecting this. I can relate to it....

I will watch them all probably, it might grow on me....

HID recorded it and we're going to watch over the weekend.
Going to give it a chance but its got to go a long way to match the original.
Even though the basic plot works today as well as it did back then, I have to wonder why they had to re-make it. Can't writers today think up original product? I have the same problem with remakes of films.

Sat down to watch it, feeling fine.

Fell asleep within minutes.

And I wasn't even drunk. So it's a 'nil point' from Eastbourne.

But I'll probably give it another go. I was trying to view it as a new entity, trying not to compare Clunes with Rossiter. But tbh, the original seems better in so many smaller details as well.

Just one example. The trip to work. The remake doesn't seem to grab that repetitive monotony of a comute the way the original did.

I won't go on.

But I thought 'Have I got news for you' was as good as it's been for years. Humour with genuine political bite. Having said that, if you can't manage a bit of political humour/comment at the moment, you never will.

Being repeated tonight in a few minutes or bound to be on iPlayer (BBC website or red button from a BBC channel).

Watched it. Was Ok but not as good as the original.
I'll give it a couple more episodes but can't help thinking that they should have let it lie.
