Hi All,

I have just had a Mizuno refit... well what actually happened was I want to buy a Mizuno MX Fli Hi and needed fitting for the shaft, the guy is a Mizuno fitter so he did a full shaft fit with the Mizy swing DNA. I cannot remember any of the averages apart from my swing speed averaged 84mph, about the same as last time, maybe I was 82mph last time.

I got a totally different selection of shafts from the first time I was fitted so I have to assume my swing DNA has changed. DG S300, KBS Stiff and Project X 5.5.

I had a little play with them on with the fli-hi and a JPX800 and then a JPX800(something, the even fatter one). The fitter did not want me to have the Fli-hi although I seemed to hit it a lot more cleanly more of the time. He seemed worried that they can spike and sometimes be 10 yards longer, I hit 10 or so balls with it and they looked to be on top of one another. Hard to fault that I think.

The Project X had the nicest flight, the KBS the nicest feel and the DG S300 was really nothingy.

No idea what to buy now, I went in for a hybird/Long iron replacement and the guy wants me to buy JPX800 4,5,6 & 7 irons!

Think I will just buy the hybrid thingty with the Project X 5.5, or maybe have all my irons reshafted with 5.5. Oh god someone stop me...

Interesting. There seem to have been a few posts recently from people going for 2nd custom fits and coming away with different recommendations. That would seem to support the idea that amateurs' swings are too variable to get the most out of CF? Don't get me wrong, I still think there's a place for it, but perhaps we need to take some of the findings with a pinch of salt.

Any way Alex, you've got a free pass to buy more shinies! It's like Doctor's orders if Mr Mizuno says you need them. :D

Agree with above re custom fitting amatuer swings - it's a ball park thing not an exact science.
Alex - in the past 2 months i have had 2 goes on the dna club and got the same shaft recs as you, first was s300 second go was project x 5.5 (national fit centre). Ironically the best feeling was the kbs - by a noticable margin - he said I hit it differing distances too much - but that could be my swing!!! Think I may have to borrow my pros mp59 head with the kbs in it and take it to the course and give it a good go. Starting to think my swing is not repeatable so wouldn't get the best from it anyway.
Either that or go for another fitting where it could be the one anyway!

In fairness to custon fitting I was clearly badly fitted in the first place. I have a flicky thing going on and a high launch shaft makes that a VERY high ball flight. Of course this is a swing fault but not one I can easily fix it seems.

As far as free pass on new shinys... wohoooooo.... My child can go to state school... (insert red face) (where the hell have the smileys gone?? that is the bulk of most members posts!!!)
