I am wanting to join the gym as I am now classed as an adult. I have been quoted offers from gyms but am unsure what to look for in a gym and a reasonable price.

Could you help please and thank you :)

My gym membership is £80/month for a joint membership, I believe it's around £50/month for an individual.

I know David Lloyd here charge £120/month for joint membership and ~£70-80/month for individual.

I reckon anything under 50/month for a half decent gym is a bargain x

I would look at any local council run gyms as they give very good value packages. I joined mine for £26.00 per month which included unlimited day and evening gym & swim, much cheaper than paying private membership, well until I was banned for getting pork pie crumbs down the side of the treadmill, well you've gotta keep your strength up when you are in training. :)

I pay £38 per month in my fight to lose the lard
but it is not your normal gym

you have 12 bits of equipment (Pec deck/ leg raisers etc, with steps inbetween each one, you do 30 seconds steps, followed by 30 seconds on equipment, do the circuit twice in half an hour

knackered by the end, but does set you up for the rest of the day
i drop my daughter at school at 8.15 then go to the gym 3 days a week, ready for work about 9.15
Sorted

How are you now an Adult? As far as most gyms are concerned you will be a Student at the very least. Am I right in thinking you are doing your GCSE's this summer? In which case you will almost definitely qualify for reduced membership. You may have to wait until you start college and get a student card though. I'd look at a DW fitness gym anyway, £29.99 student rate, peak times, usually top notch facilities in my experience, if a little busy.

Don't be conned into signing up for an adult membership just yet. And remember Gym's are permanently on a recruitment drive so are open to bargaining on membership prices in many instances- if not your monthly fee certainly any entry / joining fees you may be subject to.

As an aside seeing your post about college next year as well, do you not think it may be worth waiting to see what gym facilities they may offer you when you start next year? I presume you have already applied / are in the process of applying if you are going to be beginning AS levels in September? You probably should have attended some open days as well, so may already have an idea of what facilites are on offer.

Basically don't rush into this signing up lark, as you may come to regret it. Most Gym's will force you to take a minimum 6 month contract.

You seem to have a lot going on at this time and are probably trying to do all you want too quickly, why not have an adult chat with your parents im sure with there experience they will be able to point you in the right direction.

I use the DW Gym its £37 a month but students are £29 or £20 off peak. Best bet is to go to the gyms have a look about most have free trial days and speak to a fitness trainer and they'll give you all the info you need.
