No i'm not talking about the Xmas party.

I've just played 9 holes at my club on my own and really enjoyed it. I played with two balls all the way round to see which I scored better with and recorded scores of 40 & 41.

But one problem that has been plaguing me for a while is the out-in swing path and I adopted the principals from Adam Scott in December's GM, mainly the photo on the left on Page 72 showing the wideness of the takeaway, where as before I had a very flat plane. Well it seems to have had very good results today as I hit 8 out of the 9 fairways/greens.

Also when i got to the 8th (Par 5) I hit two drives down the middle and two 3 woods onto the green!! As i strolled reached the 150 marker I put 10 balls down and practiced my approach play, playing them low, high, fading and drawing (3 of them even ended up 10 yrds over the back!).

Then on the last I dropped 10 balls before the bunker around the green with the pin 3/4yrds on practicing my lob shots, 10 balls in the bunker and then 10 balls scattered around a 40yrd green trying not to 3 putt. Then I dropped 10 balls 30yrds before the green practcing my chip and runs.

Anyway absolutely loved it today with hardly a soul on the front 9 it was like having the corse all to myself.

Playing 18 tomorrow with my mates and cant wait. God i love this game :)

I hope the course was quiet with all this practice going on, any reason why it was deserted on a saturday?! Anyway its nice to hear golf is going well for someone else as I am having a good time of it at the moment and everyone else I have spoken to has relayed tales of gloom and woe in regard to their game. There is nothing like being in full control of the ball where you feel invincible. I had 5 holes on wednesday where I was like this and made a birdie and three pars however a silly 3 putt bogey (missed a 3 footer) meant I was level par for these rather than 1 under. I have never hit the ball better though. hopefully you do better than I did in maintaing the form. Maybe I was a bit optimistic trying to maintain scratch golf and did shoot 12 over on my next round but... it can go as soon as it came.

Had to put a game on hold today as HID was pretty rough with a migraine and even I didn't have the heart to leave her and play golf. Got a range session planned tomorrow (HID being well enough) to try some of the tips from this week and to just feel club on ball before the Christmas break

Pleased you had a good round, but Im a little surprised you didnt get a better score with one of your balls. the extra play with the other ball helps to improve shot consistancy and the brain usually favours one ball score against the other. There is usually 5 or 6 shots difference when I do this sort of thing and neither ball in excess of my h/c. ;)
