Reader opportunity...Do you want to improve your wedge play?

golfmonthly team - seems a bit unfair that all ur promtional stuff is done around london area- when most of ur readers come from outside this area ...seems a little unfair towards the rest of us futher north :D

Hmmm, but didn't the GM team fly two of you lot down to Wentworth recently??

The American Golf events were held in Scotland, weren't they??

Castle Stuart, that's in Scotland, isn't it??

Yeah, you're right, you lot get a right bum deal....

As far as I'm concerned, only the Irish lot on here can be entitled to a moan.

Spot on AW, I can't believe people are moaning !

To be fair there have been a couple of recent AG fitting sessions this side of the border. One for clubs and t'other for clothing.

I was more than happy ( and grateful) to drive the 500 mile round trip from the south coast to Gainborough for my GM Ping day. That's not "down south" or "close to London"

Sheesh!

I'm a newish memebr of the forum with a low post level, follow the Stan Utley short game school of thought and use Mizuno wedges,,,

So I've not sent an email.

Was one of 'you lot' not from Berwick Upon Tweed ? We've not held Berwick for some considerable time, however, if you're willing to give it back........ I wonder if David & Nick can sort that out this week as well ;)

And I also think he got the train ;)

I always find these opportunity post amusing. The initial posts puts out an offer and asks for a specific response regarding those who can go/ would like to go, the thread then fills up with everyone that can't go........

Couldn't agree more.

The majority of manufacturers are darn sarf, so it's probably more convenient for them to be at a prestigious club in the south.

BUT! Fear not my Scottish brethern, John Letters is based in the North, so I'm sure you'll agree that whenever that opportunity rolls round, you will not be hesitating to sign up! :D

Hi all

Just picking up on a few posts above regarding locations for where we do any reader fittings. A lot of what I'm going to say has been pointed out by other forumers but I didnt wany a lack of response from anyone at GM make it seem like we didnt care what you think!

The first and most important thing to note is that we pick readers first and foremost based on their suitability (handicap/current clubs/playing style if relevant) for the fitting not on where they live.

The location is never dictated by wanting to exclude any of the readership but rather all about manufactuer/player logistics and to a lesser extent those of the GM team.

The principal thing that dictates where they are is the wishes of the manufacturer/player we are working with and as they are supplying the kit/time I feel that is right.

Brett Rumford lives in Berkshire and wanted to do it at his home club that is in Surrey so we have worked around that. The same was the case for the R11 day at Wentworth - TaylorMade wanted to use their new performance centre as they have the latest technology, it’s close to their HQ and Paul McGinley lives locally.

Secondary to that is then the cost of me getting my staff (anything up to four guys) to a location. In these times when my budgets are under pressure I’m not going to fly four people to a location that then requires the further expense of an overnight stay/subsistence if I don’t have to. I’m sure you would all rather we spent our budget on trying to make the mag as good as possible and continuing to do good quality covermounts rather than non-essential travel.

In the past readers have been happy to foot the cost of their own travel, as they are more interested in having the opportunity to get fitted for the latest kit FOC and/or be involved in an exciting opportunity.

However I do understand times are tight for everyone so going forward we can look on a case by vase basis at offering reimbursement of any significant travel expenses. We won’t be able to afford it every time but where possible will help.

As has been mentioned what we did on for the R11 fitting is to pay the flight/train costs for 2 forumers who were travelling from a long way to get to the venue as we realised it was a big ask for them to foot the bill themselves.

I hope the above helps explains the situation
