We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!
Not being funny, but I cannot play in 40mph gusts and the type of rain that is forecast this afternoon wearing glasses.
It's like trying to hit a ball whilst looking through a misted up, frosted glass bathroom window!
No fun at all, and I've played in two or three events this year trying to do it, it's impossible.
I hate letting anybody down, and I was really looking forward to a knock around the London Club, but I play golf for fun nowadays.
Sorry about that.
Rob
Just a quick write up on the Hill billy golf day at The London Club.
Firstly thanks to GM, Jake, Hill billy, The London Club for putting on the day and also to my playing partners - Nick, Steve & Duncan who made the round very enjoyable and helped look for a few balls.
After the timings for the day changed the day before - we all met at 12 for presentation from Hill Billy and some lunch. Next we were all issued with our Hill Billy's with matching trolley bag - Hill Billy added a brolly & brolly holder at Jakes last minute request. Once clubs were loaded we headed off to our first hole - the 10th on the international course at this point the weather was really not on our side. The starter advised us that the holes were cut on the high points on the greens which made putting from any distance interesting. Not much filming was possible by GM for the first few holes due to high winds and rain. But the golf was going well by the first 4ball, but ended up as changeable as the weather. At the end of the round we could all keep the cart bag & umbrella that we used during the round. Which was a nice touch and was offered the chance to purchase the trolley with the umbrella holder with a reasonable discount to the RRP. Which a few including myself did.
As the day was about the trolley here is my opinion.
The trolley I believe is designed as an "entry level" trolley and It is very similar in design to others that are already out there. It was very stable and stood up to the wind and the hills around the London club very well. You will not find lots of gadgets on it. For example you do not get a display saying how fast/ speed setting nor do you have the option to send the trolley a set distance before if stops. The speed dial could be improved slightly to show how far you have turned it from the off position. The positioning of the handle is very good and it was comfortable to walk along with the trolley just in front of you. The speed dial is well positioned do you can adjust it whilst still holding the handle. The lithium battery seemed to have a lot of power left in at the end of the round.
Overall I would say for the price the will be a cracking trolley and providing the after sales service is up to scratch they should sell well.
Great write up Dave, thanks for the day Jake had a really good time, enjoyed the London Club and the trolley's shame about the weather but could have been a lot worse!!
This was my first forum event and thought that the 'general chat' about people hitting the ball miles was just a joke but alas Dave hits the ball on average 350 - 400 yards!! Very impressive to watch!
