In these crazy times, England Golf have published recommendations for club golf. One is to remove all rakes from bunkers.

So, we are doing that as a club. However, regarding qualifiers, do we have to just accept players, especially those in final groups, will be playing out of footprints. Or, is their any lee way whatsoever to allow a preferred lie if in footprint, but not if plugged?

Had a few of these today at West Lancs and as far as I know it’s just tough.
You can have a rake and place policy but not sure if it can be a Qualifying comp with this in place.
Some made no attempt at all to smooth the sand.

We are also thinking about scorecards, where marker takes card directly, fills it in, signs and returns. No need for player signature, thus avoiding spread by swapping card

Some might argue that that is how bunkers should always be left

This is what our club is suggesting on advice of the BB&O union

Players MUST register at the pro shop their intention to play in the competition with the Pro, one of his assistants, nominated deputy who will be there to take down names of players entering the competition. Entry into the competition on PSI (including taking entry fees from your club account) will be done for you.

BB&O have recommended that cards are signed by players and handed to the marker at the start of the round. The marker should then mark the card in the normal way, agree the final score with the player at the end of the round and put the card into the box which will be outside the pro shop.

All cards returned at the end of the competition will be processed by the office at the end of each competition.

Where can one see these recommendations? Thanks.

Isn't this what we are trying to avoid?

All our KO Comps are postponed for now. Won't ever go ahead of course due reason already mentioned. Yes, we're so naturally inclined to try & keep things going what ever, but realism is beginning to dawn.

We're at the quarter final stage of our winter 4 bbb and, so far, little guidance from the Club. We're supposed to play the semi next week and the final 2 weeks later (if we get through) but my playing partner is "vulnerable" and I've told him that he's not to consider me in coming to a decision as to whether to play or not as his health is far more important than any trophy.

Decision needs taking out of his hands IMO :unsure:
