R9 Driver

Funnily enough I bought one last night. Went to a demo evening last night just to see what was about. Had no intention of buying a new driver but ended up buying an ex-demo one for £65. Felt really good at impact and I managed to hit it with a nice fade. Also tried the G15, but I kept ballooning it and didn't feel I could control it as well as the R9.

I bought one in November and I love it, it's a cracking club as is the matching 3-wood. I can't give you a comparison with the G15 but it pi$$es on the G10.

Got mine when they first came out - I love it. Its a long story byt I also have (well i will when it comes back from TM Basingstoke) an R9 Superdeep. I may sell both though for an R11 though.

I have the R9 Superdeep 8.5 degree and it is the best driver I have ever had.

I have had a Titleist 905S and 909 D3 also various NIKE drivers.

And the annoying thing is he hits both really well and long  :p

Awww Homer, you're making me blush :o

It's ok I won't mention the thinned ones, or the dodgy pitches and chips

I play the R9, the 420cc one 10.5 degrees. Cost a packet at the time as I got it before it was discounted/superseded. At the time I never even realised it was not a 460cc driver. I brought it after a launch monitor fitting, I remember it being the club I hit best at the time, or at least that's what the sales dude told me :D

I spent a few hours at the range in the beginning trying all the settings. Eventually set it up neutral just as it is out of the box and have literally never changed anything since.

Depending on how I'm swinging I can get days when the flight is flat and low, days when it is high and floaty and occasionally a day or two when it's solid & penetrating along with days when it stays in the bag!

I'm a firm believer that it makes no real difference what premium driver a hacker like me plays. As long as it has a shaft suited to my swing speed, a loft suited to my average launch angle and does not have a overtly closed or open face then I'm going to get used to it and hit it to my ability the same as any other similar driver.

I bought one when they first came out and I think it's great. Not even tempted to trade it in for an R11.......! :D Do find the 420cc head slightly small though so may look to trade it in for the SuperTri or Superdeep.

I've got a R9 and a R9 460 :D.

Got the original R9 when it came out. Hit it great on the fitting with good numbers from the launch monitor and on the range but after 3 months of iffy on course use I got a 460 as it was killing my game.

I had that fitted to but oddly when I had the fitting my original R9 had better stats on the launch monitor than R9 460. Not by much though. But I just felt more confident with the R9 460 and it's been in my bag ever since.

I tried the G15 and a couple of other drivers as well but got better numbers from both the R9's.

I'm sorely temped by the R11. I've got £100 AG vouchers burning a hole in my pocket and I might chop in the original R9 as well but keep my R9 460 just in case.

If I do it, it will have to be soon, as a don't like changing my gear once the normal season has started.

Knowing me I'll be teeing off next Sunday with the R11 :D If I want something I tend to get it. Spoilt git that I am.

Another near faultless display from my R9 this morning. I hit 8 of the 10 fairways I used it for which is the 2nd time in the last 3 rounds I've hit over 75% of fairways with it.

I just love this club, best driver I've ever owned

Still not enough to take the kitty from Kerching though. Good shooting though as it weren't easy even with temps. Keep the form for the summer as you'll need near faultless driving and strong shoulders to carry me

It's gonna have to be something special to beat kerching mate.

I played some good golf today, really solid. I hit some great wedges, nothing fat at all but with the temps it was a lottery. I'm really happy with the way I played. Looking forward to a good year.
