Been out and hit the R11 irons today. Oh dear - big mistake. They are to die for and for anyone in the mid-handicap bracket which is really where they are being targetted these are one heck of a club. They sit great behind the ball with a minimal offset (on the 6 iron I hit) and the KBS 90 shaft is pretty tasty too. I tried a Dynamic Gold (too heavy) and a Dynamic Gold XP which was still heavier than the KBS but gave a higher flight, possibly a few more yards (hard to tell on a driving range) and equally as tight dispersion. I said I didn't want to change my clubs and after the way I played yesterday I'd need to have a long hard thought. However if I was in the market these are very, very good. I'd like to have gone for a full C/F to see if other shaft options would have made a difference but the feel off the face even on off-centre hits is glorious. I would be seriously tempted but a) not until the swing gets sorted, b) the RRP comes down and c) I can find a full C/F centre locally

It aint the gun Homer, it's the gunner. Do you really think that these clubs are gonna make any difference to the hacker?

I think they are no better than there other irons.

To a degree you are right but even with my bandaged swing they are exceptionally easy to play, certainly as easy to hit as a Ping for example and look pretty good behind the ball. All I'm pointing out is that these are worth a look for any mid-handicapper looking at new irons. Even I managed to move the ball both ways (intentionally) and with the right shaft fitted these would be long old beasts too. I'm not saying I'll be buying them but they were fun to hit and really easy to use.

Would never ever entertain TM as they change models quicker than Rod Stewart in his prime!

Thanks Homer, best irons you hit this year? Nicer than JPX or i15 for you? Can't remember what else you really liked?

I would only consider TM gear a few months after release when the retail price plummets.

Surely everyone now knows that TM will be releasing a newer model a few months down the line and that the last model can be picked up for a song.

I do not need to have the latest thing but I am also not that much of a mug to pay full whack when I know I will be able to buy something seriously discounted a few months down the line.

Pretty sure these R11 are on an 18 month cycle to match in with the Burner line now. Pretty sure they are looking at losing the TP MC and CB after this incarnation and going back to a two label appraoch (same as Ping I and G range, Mizzy MP 50 and 60 series). I tried the I15 last year and the R11 are the best I've hit in 2011.

Tm make crap irons. Always have. Give me titleist, mizuno or (heaven forbid, ping) but not tm.
Disagree, Murph. The R9's are fantastic, and I prefer them to my Mizuno MX20's.

Look nicer at address, feel nicer and go further on off-centre hits (which as a "hacker" I still do ;) ).

TM make crap irons, but they've also made some superb irons.I've had my TP combo's in the bag for nearly 8 years, and have no plans to replace them any time soon.I have a few friends in the trade, and could get pretty much any set of Irons at cost, but as the old saying goe's......"if it ain't broke, why bother trying to fix it"
