Very sad when I heard this earlier. I was lucky enough to have been part of the studio audience for the Only Fools episode with the famous ball fall scene. That scene was redone at least three times over, both he and David Jason were spot on each time, it was hilarious!
As I didn't watch OFaH (at all) and only occasionally TVoD RLP didn't really make much of a mark for me. However it is always sad to hear of the passing of figures loved and enjoyed by others if not myself.
I did wonder though how Trigger could have passed away as Trigger passed away about 50yrs ago - possibly following the stress of appearing at the Glasgow Empire with Roy Rogers - and was then stuffed (hopefully not a fate awaiting RLP).
As a 'Peckham lad' born and bred, my nickname at the golf club is 'Trigger',I cannot guess why,I keep telling any one who will listen ' I am a Northerner now'.
Came to Cheshire in 1977 and am still dropping my aitches apparently.
As to R .L-P. far too young ,these days so many live longer.Brilliant character actor.
