Hi I was playing a bounce round with my friend today and we had a wee wager but there was some debate to who the winner was.

Here's what happened, on the 15th he was putting from the fringe and requested tht I removed the flag. I did so and placed it at the other end of the green. However he then raced the putt past the hole and it hit the flag stick and stopped.

My question is, is this a stroke penalty and if so, to whom?

Its his penalty, not yours. If you were playing matchplay its loss of hole, strokeplay a 2 shot penalty I think.

Hardly a friendly "bounce" game if you are getting into a question over this.

You should have put it somewhere off his line, rules or no rules. He should have asked you to move it if there was any worry!!

Rule 17-3....he (your (ex) mate!) loses the hole in match play or 2 shot penalty in stroke play.....

Haha thanks a lot. Sorry but he is a bad loser who is also very tight haha. I'll be delighted to see him tomorrow and claim my winings :L
