In the olden days if you wanted a suit, you went to a tailor, got measured, chose a cloth and waited.
The cloth was set aside so no-one else would use it by mistake and was labeled "Be spoken for"
Hence the work 'bespoke'

Nothing to do with kitchens or anything else hand made.

What's your quite interesting fact?

Of the 12 people to have walked on the Moon
11 of them were Scouts

...and the 13th was a Girl Guide? Now that would be really, REALLY quite interesting :)

The 1977 (gulp) album 'Bat out of Hell' (Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman) is a concept album based upon Peter Pan, and it was produced by Neverland Music Company inc.

- The panel listen to a snippet of "Colonel Bogey's March" and are asked why Colonel Bogey went one over par in 1925. The answer is the British did it to conform to the American way of scoring golf. Originally, Bogey meant "par". The way you set par was to imagine you were playing perfect player, who got an exact score without dropping any shots, and the player was called Mr. Bogey. In the United States Golf Club changed the name to Colonel Bogey, so it still meant par. However, American courses were newer and when they played in Britain they thought the British courses were easier, so they made a British score so Bogey became one over par. Eventually, the British changed their scoring so now Bogey is one over par.

Similarities between 2 U.S presidents and their deaths.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.

John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.

John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.

Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.

Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.

Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford."

Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford."

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.

A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Lincoln was shot in a Theatre and the assassin ran to a warehouse.

Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a Theatre

Strange eh?

Gareth that is quite scary.

My wife does family history and is is wierd how often the deaths of one branch of ancestors are the same birthdates of family members who follow them.

Being from there I love the fact that Rutland is only the smallest county for half of the time. The Isle of Wight is smaller at high tide

The wing span of the Antonov Transport plane is more than the Wright Bros first flight.

And the first Man to pass the Driving Test was called Mr Bean

I saw one of those coming in to land at BAE near Preston about 15 years ago (a guess). That thing REALLY should not be flying. I couldn't decide whether it was HUGE or just really really close....

The sun is 400 times the diameter of the moon but 400 times further away (roughly) so they are the same apparent size from earth.
