I used to use a method previously mentioned on another thread about getting long putts within the imaginary Hula Hoop, but now I try and hole every putt. That's not to say I expect to hole them.
To answer the question, anything from 6ft in I would expect to drop.

Would the expectation of holing every putt from any distance have a better effect on your game than only expecting to hole from 6 feet or less regardless of wether it goes in or not in either case?

In golf an expectation is really a hope with confidence as you never really know what the ellements or missed bit of grit on the line will do or even what your eyesight or body may choose to do at any given moment.

I think some of us set very high expectations.

I thought the pro's only hole out about 50% of the time from 6 ft.

Anyway, I holed a 50 footer today, so anything iside this is now gimme territory, right?

Glad someone mentioned this.

On my first putting lesson the pro put 4 balls down at 4ft 6ft 8ft and 10ft. I actually hold all of them. But on the re-run I only holed the first two.

He explained that according to Peltz(sp) anything over 6ft only has a 50% chance of going in the hole, and those figures are taken from the PGA tour.

So to anwer the question, anything upto 6ft I would expect to hole, and anything over, I won't lose sleep over it.

Yes the statistics are as you say and they are the best players in the world playing on very good consistent surfaces. Which is not, of course, to say that they do not have days when they sink yards of putts.

Anybody club player thinking they "make everything" from 10 feet and in is ,I believe, kidding themselves.

Personally I try to hole every putt on the grounds that there is no putt that is impossible, some are just very very difficult and an element of luck is required. If you are a confident putter go for the hole every time, you will not make them all but you will make a lot more. I do not expect to hole any particular length of putt but try equally hard on every putt.

An over expectation of a result is a sure way to get disappointed and negative. Concentrate more on the process than on the result and your putting (and game in general) will improve.

I dont quite understand this post as it contradicts itself as you read through, but the main reason for my reply is to the last bit.

Everyone who plays golf has an expectation in relationship to their standard of play and should they come in over h/c is the disappointment they feel negative or just natural and acceptable? Over expectation is thinking beyond a known or current capability or possibility in relationship to a golfers standard, is this negative or did Tiger woods think he would never be No 1 until he actually was?

Nothing wrong with good judgement and reasonable skill to expect to sink putts so long as you accept that you wont sink them all or maybe only sink half or less depending on your putt standard.

If you think you cannot do something, chances are you wont, so how negative is that kind of thinking?
