I'm intrigued by people saying it hurts their back. If you are getting lower back discomfort I'd suggest lots of hamstring stretching and lower back mobility stretches because you shouldn't be in pain putting as there is no much less tension on the body

Seems like I have some stretching to do. My back is killing me just after like 10 putts in a row. And I haven't even reached 40 yet. :/

Even more reason to stretch the muscles mentioned for greater longevity and less pains

Your probably right it's important to keep supple, but the twice I tried the putting mat was after tea time following a fairly active day, the repetitive nature of using a putting mat for 30 minutes does I find put a ache in the lower back.

Regarding the age - 100% sure, if we are to go by what my passport is saying. The amount of gray hair showing is of concern though. About the putts, I'd have to go through my golf app first to confirm I've never had 40 putts or more in one round...
