Putting Clinic. Bob, Anyone?

Sorry but ignore anything on here that says think, imo you are doing to much of that already it creates pressure and the stress that you are feeling, relax and just let it happen

Practice holing 3-4 footers till you can make them in your sleep.

When your confident that you will knock in the second from 4 foot, you will magically get your first much nearer the hole!

It's all in the mind... Your subconscious will get the ball to the hole if you free it up.

Morning guys, thanks to everyone that contributed.

Not sure if it is because I took on board what was said on here or just a fluke but last night was probably the best round I have had on the greens.

One four putt (poor stroke on the first effort, clipped the ground before the ball, and didn't really concentrate properly on the second putt) five three putts and the rest two or one.

knocked three 10-15footers in which never happens, hardly missed anything from close in and the majority of longs ones the distance was good.

The greens were very fast, as fast as anything I have played on recently so not sure if my game is suited to them.

Sadly my play from tee to green was the worst it has been for ages (part wind, part not having played for four weeks).

Usually the putting ruins my round, this time it saved me, score was just over 100.

Still to break 100, but the confidence in the putter has shot up. Maybe next time...

Still need to book it, Bob, got a voucher for Fathers Day just not booked a time yet.

Main birthday party season for my five year old so most weekends have been taken up with that!!

Certainly going to book it in the next couple of weeks.

As for yesterdays round I think I was more relaxed than I have been, I tried to pick a spot a couple of foot in front of the ball and aim to get the ball over that.

Short game was also better than it has been, I think decelerating on the putts and chips has been the problem and really tried to be put a more positive stroke on the shots.

What works for me:

* always put from off the front foot with the same grip position, this gives a routine base.

* Always try and just rock the shoulders with no wrist movements at all.

* read the line and give yourself a reference point around a foot in front of your put. its easier to aim a a point around 12inches away that 12 -20 foot away

* dont bottle it, just rock them shoulders enough to get it there.

Ive also found alot of one handed (right hand if your right handed) practice really helps you gain feedback in puts strength needed.

That is one thing I was concentrating on yesterday and think that made the biggest difference.
