I agree that you only get what you pay for. In terms of balance weight and feel, a £9.99 putter is not going to be anywhere near as forgiving as a top end putter. However it also depends on what else you are looking for. Do you want a firmer feel (ping anser), a face to get the ball rolling (yes c groove and TM agsi) or do you want a softer face (odyssey).

One thing that is true though is that if you have poor fundamentals you can have a scotty cameron and it won't make you putt much better.

Personally I'm happy with my odyssey dualforce 554 (at the moment) and my itsy bitsy is hovering in the wings. I do have one problem though and thats the odyssey XG teron (a bit like the sabretooth but with a white alignment aid) which keeps calling me from AG and always finds its way into my hands whenever I visit. Its my birthday next month.....

I use an old cheap putter but this thread led me to try hitting some putters at AG. I really loved the Fisher range with the plastic/rubber inserts of varying density. I found the Burgundy insert in a mallet style face weighted centre shaft head to be particularly nice. Here is an image of the Fisher CTS-3C in question.

I'm sure a face weighted putter is more suited to my straight back and through stroke.
However, I want to try A Bettinardi of a similar ilk before I commit to spending any money. I had a look at a couple of outlets, but no-one seems to stock the one I think would be best suited to me: a Mizuno Bettinardi Black Carbon Series Putter - BC5

I know I should go for a fitting, but before I make arrangements to do so, has anyone recently bought, or seen this putter in an outlet in the Chester area? I tried Fore Golf and they suggested a £28.00 fitting, but I don't know if they had this particular model in stock, and so may be tempted to steer me away from that and toward something they do stock. Then again, wouldn't anybody!

I went late last year and came away with the irons and hybrids you see in my sig. Of course you're right, Wrexham's not that far from me, I guess I was looking for personal opinion/experience. I realise that what suits someone else may not be suitable for another.

I'll be interested in your opinion Pete.
