Do you have a winter putter and a different one for the summer? Or do you use the same one(s) all year.

Reason is the greens I'm going to be playing are obviously quite slow at the moment but are going to be a lot faster than those at my current club in the summer. Wondering whether I might need to look at having a back-up for faster greens.

Use the same one all year round. Game is hard enough never mind trying to change between 2 putters depending on speeds of greens.

A few practice putts and a few holes in and you should have the pace of whatever greens your playing on.

I am looking to pick up an oddysey 9 for the summer half mallet. I don't want to be playing on lightening fast summer greens with my oddysey 7. It's ok in the winter when greens are slow cause I can still stroke at long putts.

I use an older Dual Force Rossie II during the winter months. Its a wee bit heavier and the black stronomic insert is a bit harder so its easier get the ball rolling on the softer greens.

Not tried the new Bettinardi BC3 out on the course yet so I can't say what effect that will have on my strategy.

TonyN,

You may well find the 9 requires a slightly different putting stoke to the 7. That might give you a wee problem.

Just practice with the 7 and it should be fine even on very slick greens. See Monty was holing putts on Friday using one like it.

DCB. I am straight back and through with a slighly unorthadox putting technique. I have used the 7 a couple of rounds and pick it up each time I go into a shop. I actually think that that the 7 will suit my stroke better than the 9 currently does. Only time will tell though.

I have a stainless scotty for wet days, and an oil black one for suuny days (the stainless finish is too bright in the sun, and the oil black rusts when wet).

I ALWAYS use a classic blade in the summer. I choose between a Ping A-Blade or an Odyssey Dual Force.

I have two mallets which I prefer on slow greens.

and a MacGregor Fat Lady Swings.

Do I change between seasons.....YOU BET!

Do I like photos.....YOU BET!

I have a odeysey 9 and I use this all year round. It's a great feeling putter and have been getting on with it really well.

Before I brought it I tried the TM spider and this to had an awsome feel to it, two very different style putters but both would have probably done the same job!

My Pro had gone on about me needing to use a heavyer putter over winter & suggested I put my Yes putter back in the bag. Its not a heavy putter by any means, but heavieyer than most I Own. He was suggesting I look at Rife putters too, as both will encorage end over end roll with less chance of skidding on bobbly wet winter greens. I'm enclined to agree with him & the Yes putter is back in the bag.

Probably explains why I generally have kept my yes in the bag 12 months a year in previous years. So no reason not to keep it in over the next 12, with only the occasional rest.

I have the Rife 2 bar hybrid. It is an excellent putter and has interchangeable weights for variable green speeds.

I am currently tinkering with the zen oracle to help me with alignment, as soon as i'm happy with it, it's back to the rife

I have tried rife 2 bar and think it's a peach!

I might splash the cash one day and get one. Can't choose between 2 bar mallet or blade.

Sadly, me and putters are like me and women....I like them all if they are my type and would easily offer a home to any honest workers!!! :)

If I went for a rife it'd have to be a blade as I really can't be doing with great lumps of usless metal wafting around behind the putting face serviving little purpose but to set up occilations & give me the yips again... no ta. I'll stick with the bladeed putter version of whatever.... As I'm only just getting back my confidence again from the last foray into metal detector land.
