How do you know that you have the right one for your stroke?...
Have you been fitted for one in the past?
Could a change of putter really improve your game?

Would you be open to change if you knew that it would help you...

This is something that iv been reading up on for the last few months..
Studies have shown that 65% of all golfers see in curved lines which means that only 35% see in straight lines..

So there is no point in a player that sees in curved lines trying to putt to a straight target...

So without getting a putter fitting is there a drill possible to tell whether you have a straight back and straight through stroke or a curved putting stroke

you know you have the right one if you get it in the hole often enough, there is only so much any club can do, the rest as always comes down to technique and practice. With putters the look and feel to you is paramount regardless of what kind of balance it is.

I see putts as curves rather than straight ot a point. Dont know how that affects my putter though. I feel like i'm a back and through type putter but I couldnt say that for sure. I use a 2ball as I like the weight in the middle behind the striking area.

I have an Anser which is heel/toe balanced and according to the putting guide from GM a few months back it is designed to go back inside slightly rather than straight back and through. Since letting it come inside naturally I'm actually making more putts from mid distance

I'm no pro. But to find out what my natural path was, was straight forward enough. I just used the straight lines from the carpet tiles at work. Placed a ball on the line and saw where the path of the club head went.

The fitting last week threw up some surprises. I've been trying to ingrain a straight back and through line, but it's just not me. Thus the recommendation for a toe hung putter was not that surprising. But it was the solution to the short missed putts that threw up some interesting solutions.

Ben at Bournemouth AG was good, sadly the same can't be said of every experiance I've had with them at other AG stores.

I've yet to play a round since the fitting, but I have every confidence in the new flat stick will perform. Full report to follow as and when I do.
