Putter alteration question.

I have alot of trouble putting from about 6 - 8 feet. The Odyssey Versa advert makes the statement "1 degree can make alot of difference" so it go be looking at my alignment of the putter.

The putter i have is just a cheapy with arrow's, so i got some tipex and put a simple straight line from front to back. Nothing more than that. Like an idiot, i decided to go to the course today, but was sodden by 5 holes so decided to give up. But before i did and as no one was behind i had a quick dozen putts from 6 - 8 feet, from all angles. This resulted in nine holed, one lip out, one left 4 inches short and one shaving the edge of the cup and going a foot past.

Incidently, the 5 holes that i actually played resulted in 7 putts.

But now i'm wondering if what i've actually done to the putter makes it illegal? I'm hoping not, as it's in a bit of a state and i'd like to prime it, respray it (get rid of the manufacturers arrows) and just put the line on it.

Any ideas?

Nothing wrong with what you have done. In fact many did the same to the odyssey 2 ball (until they finally made one), myself included.

Could do with cleaning up and sounds like your on the way to doing that and your onto a winner. Putting for me is about confidence, and if what you have done gives you confidence then go for the full respray job.

Btw. Good reduction is handicap already, well done.

why?

I can't see any basis for concern - you didn't do it on the course during the round (which wouldn't be allowed), and nothing you have done is non-conforming.

damm - getting slow :) BT pushed the button quicker...

Is the new line painted? Looks more like a bit of tape, which causes additional issues of ensuring it doesn't come off during play.
