Pulling out of tomorrow's game

I think some one here taking it far too seriously. winter golf i a walk and a laugh with mates. We play all though winter and play on rock hard ground quite often, its fun, we don't take it that serious and the score often is unimportant individually as we always play 4 ball better ball.

This!

Drop a couple of hand warmers in your pants and you will soon warm up. Get your layers on and your fine. Played yesterday and god it was cold, and off out again in an hour.

And/or this!

Haven't resorted to hand-warmers yet, just another layer (or 2!).

And a pretty good/harmless time to make a few changes to technique and (maybe) find out how well they work! In my case, a bit (lots) more turn - on the back-swing that hopefully results in the same on the downswing! seems to be working and even imbedding!

Was going to sign up to a new club last week but the cold snap made me think better of it. With the 6 Nations on in February and March I think it may be the odd pay and play round for a while and sign up somewhere new in April.

Like I said - if you don't mind it, fill yer boots....
I wouldn't have enjoyed playing at 8 this morning.

Exactly this

I'll be out on the course tomorrow.

The modern thin layers are superb for keeping out the cold. 14 of us played in our roll up this morning at 8. Yes the ground is hard but I played in the same level of protection on Harris in August. It is all good preparation for tough completion conditions.

Get out and embrace the difficulties.

Due off in the roll up at 8.00 tomorrow. Chilly but its the rain I don't fancy but as I've played once in 2017 needs must. Had it been freezing as it has all week I'd have given it a miss. Hate the bitter cold, but bitter cold and rain/sleet is no fun for me and I'd rather hit a range

I seriously contemplated not playing today, was at the driving range at 10am and there was some heavy wet falling down stuff. Took the decision to see what it was like at my course (other side of Sheffield) as i pulled into the car park the clouds dispersed and the sun started beeming down on me. The ground was soggy and played on more than normal temp greens but it was a lovely round and as i finished on the 18th the heavens opened again

The sun shines on the righteous!

Meant to be teeing off at 11, forecast is -1, with a 'feels like' temperature of -5.

surely you need to be some kind of masochist to play in that?

Are you asking us to say it's ok not to play? Once upon a time if you weren't sure about the weather you still turned up at the club and had a discussion with your playing partners about going out. Nowadays it's seem to be ok to say stuff it I'm not going down to the club, and end up leaving the guy(s) that have turned up without a game.

Having met Dave, and knowing people who've worked with him, I'm prepared to stick my neck out and say that's not how he rolls.

And then mobile phones were invented.
