They have marshalls waving direction boards, they also have 1000's of spectators who could say "watch out!". The pros don't shout out because there's probably someone on the putting green 20 feet away putting for a potential $1,000,000 if they make enough birdies. Totally understandable.

Perhaps the kid was talking to his dad and didn't see the guy hit. If he had shouted then there would have been others shouting and I am sure the father would have shielded his son. To remove the responsibility from the golfer is stupid. I guess you would settle for an autograph done by his caddy coz he cant be arsed.

Of course I'm for real, we are allowed to have differing opinions

You take your son to a football match and Drogba strikes one just past the post and it hits your son in the face at 70mph because no one shouted FORE! or no one was watching is that OK? What about when a car crashes into the crowd on rally days or a horse bolts into the crowd? If you are going to watch a sport where a hard little white ball is flying through the air at 180mph either stay AWARE or wear a hard hat, even more so if you've got your kids with you!

If you are standing in a crowd, 200 strong, around a green, and the guy on the tee shouts 'FORE' because it might hit someone, who's he shouting to?

If you go to a golf tourney, and you are in the crowd, at driving distance, you are bang in range, pay attention. If you aren't watching, why are you there?

I was always led to believe that shouting a warning was part of good golf etiquette. This obviously hasn't escalated to the dizzy heights of professional golf
