Just watching golf on sky and Paul Mcginley has just said there is a few players on tour (some big names) who won't shout fore and instruct there caddy not to shout it either if the ball looks like it's going to hit someone.

It's shocking that a pro would rather a ball hit and maybe seriously injure someone in the off chance it will give them an advantage from it.

Thing is what do you do when you hear Fore? You've no idea where the ball is only that its heading in your direction, what you gonna do? Run... which way? duck, say a quick prayer. I just turn and face the direction the shout came from, how cleaver is that ? now it won't hit me in the back instead I'll catch it in my teeth! I suppose I want the warning and I always give one,but I can't rearly see that it's of any practical use. :D

I normally push the nearest small guy or woman into the firing line in front of me. Watch out if you are at Wentworth on Friday  :p. Actually I think it is bang out of order not to shout. For the most part there are usually big enough crowds to help deflect the shot or stop it anyway but at leas give them some warning and prevent serius injury. I'm sure the day will come when a pro kills or seriously injures a spectator at a pro event without shouting Fore and that'll open a can of legal worms big time.

I nearly got taken out at the Belfry a couple of years ago during the Brit Masters. Can't remember which hole but James Kingston was teeing off and trying to cut a corner of a slight dog-leg right. I was standing about 75 yards away on his left. His ball hit the first tree on the corner, ricocheted past my left ear - I felt the wind of it! - hit the scoreboard scaffolding directly behind me and missed my right ear by about the same amount. I didn't havetime to move and a shout wouldn't have helped one bit.
Had to have a sit down after that....

Yeah something like that a shout of "fore" wouldn't help as it happend all so quickly and you were stood so close. But when some players hit drives and the ball is in the air for a good 5 seconds and it's heading towards a big group of people there is no excuse for not shouting "fore"

I normally turn away from where the shout has come from if i can't see the ball and cover my head. So surely this is a good thing as if they didn't shout it could hit me in the head causeing a serious or even fatal injury. Atleast if i get the chance to cover most of my head with my arms/hands there is less of a chance of the ball actually hitting my head.
